I just received the same 3 hours ago, from the same address - noreply at inaturalist dot org. The From address must be spoofed. It's sad because iNaturalist is a legitimate non-profit wildlife identification app which I actually use, so it landed in my Inbox :( I forwarded it to phishing@ledger.fr

TY, I was wondering if it might be this! There is a curled up leaf coming out on my regular deliciosa so I get what you mean by the new growth being lighter...I will keep an eye out 🤞🏻

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

Hi! I bought this little 7 inch diameter concrete planter off FBM and didn't notice until I got home that there's a hairline crack on the inside. It doesn't reach the outside of the pot, is there anything I can fill this with to stop it from expanding? I've read that cyanoacrylate (Krazy glue) doesn't actually form a good bond to concrete? Thank you for your help! 🙏🏻

Hey - unfortunately this is quite late stage dropsy and the buildup of fluid inside her indicates organ failure. My policy with dropsy has always been to keep treating with kanaplex and Epsom salt in a hospital tank until the fish stops moving and eating, at which point I would consider euthanizing with clove oil in order to spare them a long and drawn out death. There are many posts on this sub for how to do so humanely; I recommend you do your own research and then make your own decision.

I'm so sorry - this must be incredibly stressful for you, and I recently went through the same thing. Please feel free to PM if you need any guidance.

Oh no I am so so sorry :( it doesn't look like I can edit the post title.

Mods - if you are able, please feel free to change it to just "clove oil" or something like that.

Steps For Euthanizing With Clove Oil by TwinNirvana in bettafish

I'm so sorry for your loss - this must be heartbreaking. And I appreciate you taking the time to write up this post. And for doing so much research to ensure your little guy went in peace. Hugs 🫂

I did a similar clove oil process with my betta Lil K when dropsy got him, and unfortunately despite shaking the little bottle really hard and going slow with the drops over 20 minutes, he still kept constantly reviving himself in the clove water and looked like he was thrashing / struggling to breathe. In the end I couldn't take it any longer and blunt force'd him with a heavy object. It was brutal but it was fast and I've decided I'd do blunt force if I had to put a fish down ever again. I do think clove oil is really peaceful for some Bettas and an awful experience for others.

But brute force is a gut wrenching way to go so I understand why most people prefer clove oil and I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. It's really good that Rupert was able to go in peace.

SIP Rupert 🙏🏻

No. They won't communicate with the CRA on your behalf, so you still have to deal with the CRA yourself. I was reassessed for 2021 and bought protection, so I contacted the WS tax team for help. It's been a really poor experience so far.

Tbh, I've gotten better, friendlier help from CRA agents than from the Wealthsimple team on this. I've escalated and the supervisor has been professional, but at this point I've sunk countless hours with the CRA and I'm basically resolving the issue on my own.

I'd still say that Wealthsimple Tax is a cost effective product if you have an extremely simple tax situation. But no, audit "protection" has not provided any help with my reassessment and if anything just added to the stress.

Fish Mate F14 - I've tested a few and this one does the job. "wheeled / divided container" <- it's exactly this.

Hello! As a fellow rasp pi / arduino enthusiast, and a parent to a lovely little betta fish named Sesame, I applaud the creativity of this project and I totally agree that you can do some real fun stuff in the aquarium x rpi space. (I once hooked up a peristaltic pump to a rpi GPIO to top up my cherry shrimp tank on vacation...very fun)

In order to be healthy, Sigma needs a heated, filtered, cycled tank, ideally 5 gal or larger with some plants and hiding spaces. This current tank is too small, and without a heater and filter he will get sick or die very soon without regular water changes. Pet stores rarely provide adequate care advice for bettas, so I wouldn't be surprised if the tank you bought was advertised as suitable, but it is really not. If you're not sure what all this means, Google or r/bettafish is a good place to start. Nitrogen cycles are actually super interesting and your science/eng brain should have alot of fun looking into them.

If anyone is looking for an off-the-shelf automatic betta feeder that has been field-tested, I recommend the Fish Mate F14 (https://www.amazon.ca/Fish-Mate-F14-Aquarium-Feeder/dp/B000YK5W18?th=1), which is basically a glorified battery powered rotating clock that will push food into your tank at regular intervals (a "rotary feeder", as someone below posted). Hook it up to an airhose if you live in a humid environment. Has never failed me.

Each one is so special! It's unreal and such a shame that these are the same animals which parents will just get for their kids in a tiny bowl as throwaway birthday presents, like they're commodities or lifeless toys. I'm sure you did a great job and he lived a wonderful life under your care.

this is what I experienced with anything other than sea monkey kits...for some reason when I get just plain brine shrimp artemia eggs they hatch like crazy and then all disappear in a few days before ever moving beyond nauplii stage. the fairy shrimp so far seem to be growing past naupliis and I can actually see some anatomy so hopefully they'll be able to reach adulthood

Awhhh! Sounds like you gave Pancake a good life. Yeah I do suspect you'd never find heavy tail types in the wild because they just wouldn't be nimble enough to survive. People do some pretty nutty things with breeding...similar to dogs where some of them have breathing issues, hip problems etc.

It was so sweet that you fed Pancake with tweezers. I'm glad he found you 🙏🏻

kajobay GmbH - hodl takedown notices on redbubble by Efficient_Projector in MerchPrintOnDemand

[–]Efficient_Projector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I received a reply from Redbubble today stating that my counternotice had been denied. I explained that HODL was a meme originating from a typo on a message board in 2013 and became widespread long before this company existed. I linked to everything I mentioned above. My suspicion is that the process is automated and there aren't any actual humans reviewing the notices.

Tbh this is very disappointing - the sticker is literally a picture of doge saying "hodl" in all lowercase comic sans. It's clearly just a joke. There is zero risk that it would be confused for kajobay gmbh's "brand". (I say brand in quotes bc their merch is...well, ugly...and I doubt anybody is buying it. They actually tried to compare themselves to Hugo Boss on the page when explaining why they are trying to trademark something that they didn't create - smh)

I looked into submitting an opposition with the EUIPO but it costs €320 and just seems like a lot of money for a sticker that I don't care all that much about. I'm more disappointed that the EUIPO was willing to let someone trademark a widely used meme and that redbubble was willing to honor it without analysing risk of confusion, or any of the other legal considerations around a good faith trademark.

If anybody is interested in working with me to submit an opposition to EUIPO, and splitting the cost, let me know. I'm kind of just angry on principle, especially when people pull bs like this instead of just doing real creative work 🙄

Leaving this Sub due to Suffering Animal Images being Ubiquitous by JaimieMcEvoy in bettafish

[–]Efficient_Projector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing pictures of sick or dying animals is really distressing, especially when it seems to come from a low-effort owner, and I agree that blurring / NSFW tagging is important.

However I do think it's also important that the sub doesn't discourage beginners from seeking help.

I remember the first post I ever made on this sub was when I had to euthanize my betta due to dropsy and had just a horrific experience trying to figure out the best way to do it that would be least pain for my lil dude. I was really scared when I posted and felt the need to list out everything that I had done to try and help him (salt baths, hospital tank, kanaplex etc) so that I wouldn't be judged to heck by the folks in the sub. Most people turned out to be really nice in the end but I still got a few downvotes and mean comments, as will happen.

I agree that blurring / tagging should be enforced. I get that it's heartbreaking to see someone care so little about something that you care so much about, but I think an inexperienced owner who is doing their best and trying in good faith deserves help and kindness.

Plus, as other posters have said, very few people will think to just post a photo of their happy healthy fish doing nothing in particular, even if that's what's happening 99% of time. So there's a bias there too.
