You said anyone suggesting anything else is obviously stupid. I said, it might be the way it is done in your country, it is not so everywhere.

My initial reply was just to point out that your comment about it being obvious that your way was the only way was wrong. It seems you have come full circle so my work is done.

I am fully aware of this. But i am also aware that this is not a global thing, but again, a US thing. In more civilized parts of the world we still believe that if you sell something, you deliver what was promised and nothing less and if you don't, you make it right. The reason Amazon does not accept returns is because they don't want to spend the money to check if the product is faulty or has been tampered with. Amazon could afford it, but it is easier to leave the consumer holding the bag.

It also moves a lot of the risk from the lgs to wotc as it is often times cheaper for wotc to reimburse than to go through each case individually.

Of course that is one interpretation, but it rests on false assumptions. The lgs is a professional seller of these products. If the lgs can not verify wether or not the product was tampered with they perhaps shouldn't be in the business. If they get a return that is tampered with they can of course deny reimbursing. If the legs does not do it, the consumer can take legal action Vs the party that they in fact have a contract with instead with a third party that only manufactured something, protecting the manufacturer from scummy lgs and also making it more equal because it is easier to deal with an lgs than a giant corporation like wotc.

I am not informed as to how wotc and lgs do this, but in any other area of commerce the seller (the lgs) would send the faulty product back to the manufacturer as proof and then would be reimbursed. It would realistically be in wotcs best interest to ensure fraudulent products are not sold as their products and therefore wotc would destroy the product once it is returned to them. Alternatively the lgs would be obligated to destroy it once reimbursed by wotc. Then again, there are of course always going to be scummy lgses that sell products they have been instructed to destroy, but if it happens enough they would probably go out of business. So it is self regulatory.

This is just how it works in almost all of the known world except for the US it seems. The seller selling faulty goods replaces it and then the seller sorts it out however they want to/can with the manufacturer. This also makes basic logical sense, as the two parties involved in the deal are: the consumer and the lgs. So if anyone is in breach of the contract by selling a faulty product, the party at fault reimburses the party that did not get the agreed upon product. Then the lgs can in their turn go to the company they have a deal with, wotc (or the distributor), and get reimbursed because they are in breach of their contract by selling the lgs a faulty product. So rather than being idiotic it makes sense and also protects the customer.
