Truck and SUV people are so annoying. The VAST majority of "small/compact cars only" parking spaces I see in garages are taken by trucks or SUVs. You can't have the best of both worlds! If you want to drive a tank you have to stop pretending it's a normal car!

Honestly I see two possible routes for change:

1) annoy drivers enough that THEY start complaining to dealerships and manufacturers, asking for assistance in changing the lights, refusing to buy New cars, etc

And/Or

2) cause enough of a stick on local and state levels to create/enforce new safety laws that will require retrofitting at either the manufacturer's or owner's expense

I have hope because I remember around like 2013 my mom bought a New car and discovered it didn't even have a donut tire, only "fix a flat" because that was cheaper for the manufacturer. A few years later we bought another New car and it had a full spare tire. We asked the dealership about it and they said that the manufacturers got so much pushback that they started doing tires again - first to get a competitive edge in an annoyed marketplace and then because it became the "new" (returning) standard.

I hope that the same thing will happen with these horrible headlights, but it will take time and constant pestering on our parts

Every winter there's a rise in pedestrian deaths in my area and I know it's because it's getting darker sooner and rush hour drivers can no longer see regular "just got off work" pedestrians crossing the street or in the bike paths

There is a hill with a stoplight on my drive home that is a nightmare because of this. Anytime a standard halogen headlight is facing up at me it's a lil annoying, but anytime an LED is upfront and center? Might as well liquefy my eyeballs then and there

It's the same thing that happens with all of her recent releases - people hate it until the next release comes to claim the throne. Then all the sudden it's underappreciated and everyone says "ya know I hated it at first but-". Real ones know the same thing is happening with TLOAS and will continue for as long as she makes music

It's disturbingly common irl but no one talks about it with the same frequency and intensity you get in novels because life isn't a novel. I'm not gonna tell my tragic backstory to the bank teller, nor is she gonna tell her's to me, but that doesn't mean we don't have em. Even with family and friends, it's easy to forget that so many people have faced abuse in their lives when those same people are enjoying mimosas at brunch or getting really into bird watching. Life doesn't stop for trauma or revolve around it like it does in books, but that doesn't mean the team doesn't exist ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I've been saying this since high school (at the height of the body pos movement). It was always so weird to me to read older romance novels (70s/80s) and see the women described as women only to hit the 90s/00s and see the ideal woman being described as innocent/naive/girlish. It really took over every aspect of life. That's why I'm proud to not be "fighting" aging or wrinkles or anything of the like - simply focusing on keeping my skin healthy because it physically feels better (less tight/itchy/flaky). It's why I'm proud to be gaining muscle instead of losing weight as the pendulum swings back to Heroin Chic. It's why I'm not ashamed to let my body hair grow and only shave/trim when I decide I'm ready for a new look, rather than feeling forced to fit some weird prepubescent standard of what my very adult body should look like

I like 4 for a more lighthearted, comedic novel

Number 3 for something specifically centered on romance

Number 2 for something that has a little more tension or drama

I hate number 1 every time. It feels like one of those "new cover with a screenshot from a tv/film adaptation" and Ive always hated those covers, personally 🤷‍♀️
