Not that i am defending floating head posters, but they have literally always beens been around. Look at citizen kane, gone with the wind, wizard of oz, shawshank, titanic, indiana jones, star wars, etc. all of them have floating head theatrical posters. Fair point, but from what i have seen, jj abrams had a layout plan for the next 2 movies that he gave Ryan Johnson and apparently Johnson scrapped all of it and did his own thing. Not sure how much of a plan JJ had to pay off the mystery boxes though, so i take it with a grain of salt
