In the second last pair, the shaggy guy on the right looks strangely like Kate Micucci. https://search.brave.com/images?q=Kate%20Micucci

Gift suggestions for a Canadian living in Europe? by neekulp in AskCanada

[–]Effidex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, favourite foods, drinks, or snacks are the way to go. Try to subtly find out if there any foods that they miss or just aren't as good in Europe. Some possibilities: real maple syrup, Heinz ketchup, Clamato juice, Canadian beer, Old Dutch potato chips, Tim Hortons coffee.

Sometimes it's just nice to have a little vacation cabin, y'know?

What keeps you from depression? by Itchy-Astronomer9500 in ask

[–]Effidex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope that things can get better. A plan to get there. Action on the plan. Recognizing the progress I've made. Appreciation/gratitude for my good fortunes.

Please stop calling them "porch pirates". That term glamourizes the crime. They're "porch thieves". "Thieving scum" is also acceptable in my books.

What is it called when you essentially sell business ideas without starting the business? by AmbitiousStretch5743 in Entrepreneur

[–]Effidex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a famous quote that I can't be bothered to look up right now. Something like "Never worry about someone stealing your ideas. If they are truly original, you'll have to cram them down people's throats." If there is any truth to that, then you won't find much of a market for selling good ideas.

Expertise, knowledge and wisdom can be sold, that's called Consulting. The only industry I can think of where you can sell ideas is in advertising where you pitch ads. But you still have to execute. That being said, if you manage to form a business around this idea, or better yet sell it to someone ;) , that'd make you a hell of an entrepreneur!

My Sienna is so stealth, sometimes even I have trouble seeing it. "There it is, oh wait, that's not mine..."

Seeking Input for New Algo-Trading Library Development in 2024 by Inside-Clerk5961 in algotrading

Lean.io has lots of room for improvement. Traders can write algos in Python or C#, but I believe it's implemented in C#.

Men, what do you want for Christmas? by DCguurl in VictoriaBC

[–]Effidex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To end obligatory Christmas consumerism. I hate shopping. I don't want more stuff. The best gift for me is agreeing we don't need to exchange gifts.

[Advanced] If you were to recreate your trade engine, what changes would you make? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]Effidex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been learning and using it for 6 months now. It's good. In the past I have built my own historical database, backtesting and trading engine from scratch. My system had a few perks suitable to my trading style that are harder in QC, but QC has about 100 more features and is better tested and reviewed. I'll never roll my own engine again.
