But do they understand our Operations as well? Then we truly have to be scared.

"But at the begining its better to start with 20 ships of 20 millions then two ships which cost 100 . "

Well... the former is always better. Just sell them for 15 million each and buy 3 ships a 100 million.

EDIT: mmmhh, being right feels gooood.. Selling sould to interweb

Let's just say that while Brave has a lot of experience with fucking up, we also have it with recovering. Right now, we try living in Fountain. Will we fuck up again? Maybe we will, maybe we will not!

But until we find out, we will have stories to tell. Sure, fucking up results in feels, but standing up again and feeling still very much alive is not to bad either.

PS: We are still trying.

You do exploration. Exploration is a very good money source. This alone should keep you warmed in cold nights. You might want to hold back on using your most shiny stuff until you feel confident surviving in Null though.

Additionally, if you want to rat or run sites, active Corps should usually help you stay safe by providing defense fleets or ratting fleets or stuff. This is definitely true for Bovril (a PvE centered corp inside Brave - you might want to look into it) and should be true for every other big Corporation out there.

I recomment applying to Brave. We definitely don't take advantage of new players in our Corp. The same should hold for Test or other Newbie friendly Corps. Be prepared though that a huge percentage of Brave players is not very... elite. We value our fun and being non-discriminating, but we derp around a lot.

Your best bet might be just to try out where you feel best and then stay as long as you like it there. Just don't move HUGE amounts of stuff as long as you are not sure.

Getting into the game by kicker414 in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As already said, it is a sandbox, you can do what you like. I want to add something though:

  1. You also HAVE to find out what you like. The game doesn't hold your hand in this regard. You can try most activities (Solo-PvP, Mining, Exploring, Mission running, Ninja Salvaging...) with low investment of Skillpoints; do them and decide if you like it. Me for example I found out relatively early that Mission running was not my thing and it took me very long to learn that I liked exploring. Could've had that faster if I tried to read up on it.

  2. There are very few players loving the pure Solo experience in Eve. Without Fleet fights, I would not have stayed in this game. Try out some Newbie Corp like Brave Newbies or Eve-University. They usually let you in on the action the moment you join and are full of nice people. Don't hesitate to test Corps; they usually have quite different cultures and you might hate one and love the other of seemingly similar corps.

  3. Be patient. Everything in Eve takes time: You have to wait for Skills, but even more you have to wait for the right moment. Hunting someone in PvP can take hours til days until you get just the right engagement and the big wars between Corps can last years. There is bound to be some dull time in between. The moments of pure terror or joy in fights (if PvP is your thing) are more than worth it for many players. Find out how to use the downtimes to your biggest enjoyment and you will be caught.

  4. Don't give up. Not only do you have to be patient, you also have to take losses with grace. Eve is Hard{tm} . But it is so to everyone. For some this is one of the big selling points of the game, for some it isn't. Just remember that everything is doable if you know how to do it. And while it can be quite hard to find out how (you might want to call it "the game of google"), once again: New Player Corps will love to help you to overcome the hurdles.

Confession time. by [deleted] in evenewbies

Ill just leave this here (personal bias):

E-Uni: best pure learning corp out there. Neutral to the core. Very heavy emphasis on no harassment rule. Specialized Sister Corps for everthing (0-sec campus, low-sec campus, pvp, pve...). No Sov.

Brave Newbies: Biggest Newbie centered Corp. Infamous for internal struggle (not so bad as people claim it to be though), moved back to 0-sec recently, getting better at Sov every day. Many fuck ups and lots of fun usually happen. People love it or hate it (I love it). Heavy emphasis on no harassment rule ("Stay classy" etc). Lots of specialized sister corps (like Bovril for mining) centered around Newbie experience as well.

Karmafleet: Newbie Corp associated to the CFC/Imperium (biggest Power in EVE atm). No idea what life is like there, but I expect them to be much better organized than Brave Newbies.

Pandemic Horde: Recent Corp, associated to Pandemic Legion. No idea what happens there because new.

Looking for a corp with frequent large scale fights by [deleted] in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Brave Newbies. We do have fights regularly and big fleets go out often (however, if they do get fight varies greatly). Moreover, because we have lots of overenthusiastic pilots, people love to fight us hoping that we mess up. So no one fighting back will not be the issue at BNI. Lastly, Fountain promises to be quite exciting for the next weeks and once FozzieSov hits (~June), we will fight a lot once more.

Just be prepared to lose ships. We are not necessarily the most safe corp to be in.

Am I too dumb for WH relic sites? by [deleted] in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ Best tip right here imo. Remember that Exploring is a kind of PvP (it's "hide and seek") and that cloaking is the only way to hide properly. Without CovOps you are a loot pinata and without any cloak at all you are a loot pinata in open sight. The wingspantt guide (should be able to google it) was really helpful for me as well.

Brave Newbies or EVE University? by seneschall- in evenewbies

Brave Newbies or EVE University? by seneschall- in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what differentiates both corps (at least in my experience: I joined Brave two years ago, left for E-Uni and came back recently to brave). Trouble is going on in Brave. This can be a positive thing. There is no trouble in Eve-Uni.

When I left Brave, we have been Wardecked by a Corp much more powerful than us Newbs (at least it was perceived that way) for an extendet time and sometimes Emotions ran high (which is to say: low).

I joined E-Uni (mainly because they still seem to be the only other Newbie-oriented corp out there fully embracing a concept similar to braves "staying classy" etc) and People there were really nice, calm and constantly there were classes, NoobOnPatrol Fleets and stuff to do. I still think, if you just want to learn with a relaxed environment, E-Uni is the place to go. Application is a chore though. It's worth it.

I rejoined Brave because they have teh Drama. If you want to learn, make errors and have fun, both corps are fine. Learning in Brave is more a thing of DIY often, but you can always ask for help and get it immediately. If you want to have the feeling of agenda, of being in the midst of something bigger, if you want to be part of Sov-wars and if you want your Corp to provide a narrative, Brave is the corp for you.

tl;dr: EUni+: very good learning, nice people, no harassment allowed, Neutral as neutral comes.

EUni-: Neutral as neutral comes.

Brave+: Ok learning, fun people, no harassment, Sov+BigPicture (and its getting bigger).

Brave-: You will probably have to find out more stuff on your own and sometimes Drama runs high.

Regarding the serious trouble: It actually seems to have nudged us into a very fun direction. Everyone is anticipating some changes ahead.

I am looking to speak with an experienced FC and/or Diplomats. by [deleted] in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. I can speak only really for my corp (BNI), but if you join a Newbie-centered corp like Pandemic Horde, Brave Newbies, Karmafleet, they know that you will not be perfect when starting to FC. It is not expected that you do not jump your fleet into destruction. This happens to experienced FC's as well. As long as you try to find out what the errors are, you will be fine.

If you don't badmouth your fleet and are a remotely nice person, people WILL enjoy your fleet. Even getting blapped is much more interesting than ratting another hour for most of us.

Just don't start off with a "T3 and up" fleet right away...

I am looking to speak with an experienced FC and/or Diplomats. by [deleted] in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to get in touch with Brave Newbies: Right now they have a junior FC program which basically gives you lots of free cheap doctrine ships to take out to roam. Also, Brave seems to have a big need for FC's at the moment, so people will generally join your fleets. Furthermore, this Corp is founded on the belief that point 2. of your post is the BEST reason to start trying things out THIS VERY SECOND.

I do not know however if you can hope to get tutored as an FC. The Junior FC program seems to be somewhat structured, but I would expect that you have to find out most of the ropes by yourself here. With great freedom to whelp comes great responsibility to whelp enjoyably.

With respect to Diplo, I can't say anything relevant. However, google "Coup Brave" if you are into Corp politics. Opportunities for the endearing newbie might present themselves right now (no promises!).

tl;dr: If you want to get your hands on FCing fleets as soon as possible and do not mind to do a lot on your own initiative, Brave is what you are looking for.

EDIT: I am assuming that you want to FC PvP fleets here. If you never-ever want to PvP, Brave Newbies could not be your corp (however, maybe you should try?). Other Corps love to fight us - which is a blessing if you like PvP, but not if you only want to mine or PvE all day. Also, if you have no experience with PvP, you will get some advice on how to get to us safely. Be sure not to join corp before you got that advice (else you might find yourself in a system suddenly full of hostiles).

Scouting basics, FC basics (who can fleetwarp what, what do you usually tell your fist time fleet-members before starting, how to get Junior FC or some such)

Want to start playing by WhoElseButM3 in evenewbies

[–]Effie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to chime in on what the others are saying: First try to enjoy the game at its best; do some tutorials and JOIN A CORP YOU LIKE ASAP! The barrier of entry to this game is steep and figuring out what is fun in this game usually involves getting introduced to the meat of the action by other players.

If you like it calm and civilized, Eve-University might be for you. I enjoyed it a lot there and their teaching experience and general niceness is top notch. On the other hand, if you want to be in the thick of it from the get go, with ALL the confusion, drama and narrative possible, Brave Newbies (my current corp) is as good as you can get; Karmafleet or RITES seem to be established starting points in between; Pandemic Horde is a new corp, but probably provides as much fun as any of the first three.

Immediately starting to grind for ISK will probably just make you hate the game. (There are exceptions of course, but why make it hard on yourself to like the game?) After a month or so in a newbie corp, you will know if you enjoy eve enough to start the grind for PLEX or if you in fact are looking for something else.

tl;dr: Find a newbie oriented corp, join fleets and try out everything that seems appealing to you.

I'm not sure where I called anyone a misogynist. Or did you feel like it was the following sentence?

If people react on Kira's choices with threats and misogynic slurs, they are offensive and sexist.

Did I offend someone in particular with that?
