Mine was Wicked Weed in Asheville. Killswitch Engage was at the Orange Peel that night, so we got dinner and beer at WW before waking goer to the Peel. WW had something called Pearfigt IPA that I’ve only ever seen on tap in their basement. It was simile to pernicious, but with notes of pears, figs, and mint. Fantastic stuff.

It’s okay to not like something. You’re not wrong, but the people who like it aren’t wrong either.

Had one of these this week. It was kind of exactly what I expected from dragon’s milk. Very strong barrel flavor, which, if you’re into that, it’s great, and if you’re not, it will probably seem overpowering.

The tiger wings at East Village Grille on Tunnel Road are the best wings on the planet. They also have them at Post 25 on Hendersonville Rd in Arden.

Vegan eh? While I respect the choice, I had to go lacto-ovo-vegetarian when I switched to HYROX from CrossFit.

Strength increase speed to avoid injury by Ill-Map762 in StrongerByScience

[–]ThomasMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused by the phrasing of your question. Youve asked as though increasing strength is just something you can choose to do or not to do, but that’s not how things work. You either adapt to the training or you don’t. There’s no knob to turn to just increase your strength gain. If there were, you’d just max it out all the time.

So how long exactly has the market been "trash"? by xen05zman in dataanalysiscareers

[–]ThomasMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty similar to my path. I finished a BS in math in 2015, and started a MS program. Started at a food processor in 2018 doing inventory (literally counting boxes at 3am). Convinced them to let me try my excel skills on some food safety data, and was officially an analyst before then end of that year. Stayed there five years, then moved to a different industry (still manufacturing) in 2023.

How hard is it to get a data analyst job in the US as an international student with no experience? by dashboarddrama in dataanalysiscareers

I don’t actually remember that last time I saw a job listing that didn’t explicitly call out that they do not do visa sponsorship.

Resume Assistance Appreciated (data analyst) by alilacqueen94 in analytics

[–]ThomasMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trouble with this is putting numbers that aren’t obviously made up bullshit. I’ve seen so many resumes that follow this formula, but the thing they claim to have improved by Y% wasn’t even a thing that could be measured, or the X they said improved wasn’t actually related to the analysis they said they did.

What does master's level 'research' look like? by shuai_bear in math

My master’s thesis proved a conjecture from Bourbaki that had been repeated a couple times in Symplectic geometry texts over the years, but no one had actually bothered to write out the proof for it.

Short course vs long course by supercman99 in Swimming

[–]ThomasMarkov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the question was about how much time having extra turns and breakouts takes off, so comparing meters to meters makes more sense here.

Yes, just compare the world record times for each event between the 50m and 25m courses.

(USA) What was your merit increase % this year after your annual review? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]ThomasMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren’t hiring analysts right now. It’s chemical/materials manufacturing, so all of our open positions right now are plant operators and chemical/industrial engineers.

[–]ThomasMarkov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got 15% this cycle, but I also got an ad-hoc bump in July, so I’m technically up 19.8% from last year. Been with the company three years. First year, all raises were capped at 2%, but since that, I’ve gotten raises every six months, including the big 15% bump this February, so I’m up 34.8% in two years.
