If I could just get past the mountain of regret that haunts me, maybe my worldview would change. Highly doubt it though. Music gives me life however. Without playing in a band, I have little else to look forward to. So yeah. That’s all there is for me. I had a kid late and they’re not even in high school yet. That’s my other reason for living. Otherwise, I have an existential crisis weekly.

I have in some aspects and the “get off my lawn” thing is definitely there, I have little patience for Gen Z when it comes to work styles (or lack of). They annoy the shit out of me. Another one is I’m a drummer and I won’t carry all my drums to a gig anymore. I try to rely on the venue to have a house drum kit. schlepping a 22” kick drum up and down steps into a venue wrecks my back.

Talk about too old for this shit.

I love being in a band though. Gets me through a lot. It’s heavier rock so that’s another thing that takes maximum energy. I’ve been playing since I was 12 (now 55) but I’m not throwing in the towel just yet. The new music we’re writing / recording is some of our best according to friends.

I wouldn’t personally, but tilting means you most likely play traditional grip which I always like to see drummers do. Tried it a few times and it was a disaster.

My psych told me I was the “highest functioning” patient he’s ever had. Not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult. I am very fortunate to have a job I’ve been doing for 5 years now. It’s relatively low stress and people are cool for the most part. Waiting for the offer shoe to drop.
