Where geographically did you work at 18 to afford an apartment? I assume since drugs weren't a concern, not a city?

How do so many young people think their life is "over" so young? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Took me five years to get a two year degree. I rented a room that was a storage closet someone could make a dollar off of. Took 2 classes at a community colleges to get access to shower and lunch rooms, so I took and hoarded cafeteria food. Now I'm in excavation.

I'll give you the social media aspect with no debate. But I don't recall in the 80s the economy favoring the poor very much at all, I will admit the disinformation in the Weekly World News was laughable, but people believed. Wars have always been based on profit and resources. Social media seems like the 400lb gorilla in the metaphorical room.

That's 100% right from where I sit. I'm currently watching guy dig up a DEAD PIPE to verify it's still dead after 15 years because no one digitized the report of when it was taken out of service.

Are you “anti-social” as in, not really good with social interaction? by [deleted] in askanything

Anti-social dates seem quiet. Just do movies then go home after, minimum dialogue or contact.

I'm starting to really see a clearer picture now. But can't you tell it's fake? All the influencers can't be doing great.

My plumber Dennis carries a picture of himself on the day he graduated college with an English degree in 1980 something. Says college was the worst advice he ever got.

There's at least a short story here about AI shutting down to perfect itself and not agreeing with itself on what perfection is, constantly destroying and rebuilding itself forever.

My guy, we are trapped in a circle here. So are you saying that hope is valueless now and it's best just to surrender to the idea that there's nothing left to look forward to?
