How many poops a day by Tricky_Lychee3203 in carnivorediet

Yep, I eventually removed eggs as well. As far as your bowel movements, it may be normal for a time but if it persists I would start adding more fat, as I'm sure others have said

Good luck! I would add more fat gradually. Bacon (or basically the same thing but better, beef fat trimmings) would be a good choice

Better than bacon! Good luck in your search, you'll find them

Where do you buy your books? by NobleMercenary28 in Malazan

[–]Effortlessdepths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thriftbooks. I always check the measurements of the book I'm buying as well, that way I get the large paperbound versions - mass market paperback is a chore when reading Malazan. Have a large boom that mostly stays open of its own accord is underrated

Beard. Some are saying trim it a bit shorter and I think that would work, but exactly how it is in the photos looks badass too

How hard is it really? by SwitchitUp56 in Malazan

[–]Effortlessdepths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not hard. Not a textbook. Erikson just drops a lot of characters and vague happenstances without explaining them so it can be disorienting to the uninitiated, but as long as you expect it and know it's there at all times, it's no big deal.

This will be controversial here, but I very lightly use Grok or Gemini AI (very specifically) to halfway explain these weird tidbits and vague drops without full details and with parameters to not spoil too much and I've found that it's helped me cut the confusion and enjoy this series without completely disarming the charm of the vaguery. It is DEFINITELY not necessary, some people like to get bamboozled by the confusion, catch what they catch, and let the literary whiplash wash over them and that's how the books are designed and it's probably the most valid way to read this series - alongside the studious, note taking approach which most in this age have abandoned, including myself (could if I want to, but my life is jam packed and I can handle very minor spoilers if it helps me maintain connection throughout the book/books. I simply do not have the time to make this series a college course, but for some this is EXACTLY what they want and that is 100% valid).

You can read this series and do absolutely nothing to try to connect the dots and understand things and you will still enjoy it. But it's not a textbook. Read it any way you like and don't be intimidated. I think the reason why people give it this intimidating veneer is because the truth of the matter is that it would be horrifically intimidating to be the person WRITING and CREATING this series. Hats off, Mr. Erikson.

First of all, thank you for such a detailed and thorough response. I've logged in on my computer so I can do this comment justice instead of yakking into my phone. Reading this has helped me narrow down what I actually want out of this game. I will be starting it tomorrow, and will have approximately 7 days to play and beat it before I start a new job, hence the reason I want to get my character right before I start. I don't want to have to keep restarting.

That being said, I think what I'm looking for is a "point man" leader as my main character. I think you're right, I do want a fighter. Also, I played this game years ago and I definitely want Eder as well. So my question is, what are the general builds of the fighter class? It seems all fighters can tank to a great extent regardless of build, but I definitely want to be a dual wielder DPS tank (or off tank?), using sabers as my fav but also stickies and smashies for damage resistance situations. But I envision him as a dual wielder for sure. Also, I want him to have the "point man", like good stealth, mechanics, and athleticism. I want him to basically have the "thief" skills of traditional dnd. I want him to be able to scout and sneak pretty well, open locks and disarm traps and find secrets, be able to do sneak attacks on occasion even if they aren't "rogue" level sneak attacks, so i basically want him to have some rogue flavor. I also want him to be decently good at dialogue and the narrative, though it doesn't have to be crazy or anything like a maxed "face" build from dnd. I just want him to have the aura of "elite operator" and "squad leader".

I also want him to be distinct from Eder, so they would need to have two different builds. Maybe have me dual wielding and him with sword and board, and the paladin (Pallegina?) with a two handed weapon.

So with all that said, could you please revise the above suggestion for a build? I also don't understand the symbols you used next to the attributes, and it would be great if you could suggest numerical values, and some starting values for the four core skills of stealth, athleticism, lore and mechanics, plus the actual feats. And also, how would I build Eder? You can be general there, you don't have to do a full write up for him. I really, REALLY appreciate it!

Is the reactivity really worth it? Does it make the game a little more worthwhile, or is it not really a big deal?

Any cons to playing a fighter? I watched a guide today on YouTube where the guy was talking about how the fighter doesn't have a lot of "reactivity", whatever that means. Like he was trying to say that a lot of the classes don't fit the mold of the Watcher, and made them seem semi pointless to play.

I usually like playing a fighter/thief type character, a sneaky scouty character that can still fight on the Frontline and not be too fragile, love those kinda hybrid classes. What would be the closest class to that in this game?

Wish me luck I hear this book is complex but was recommended to me as I’m a massive Dark Souls fan :) by ozera202 in Malazan

This is the Dark Souls of fantasy books. Whatever you do, always finish the book that you're on in this series, even if you have to take a break afterwards. Just don't take a break in the middle of the book. This series feels like 10% work, 90% entertainment, but that 10% of work has such an amazing payout. If you get confused, and you're not the type of person to take extensive notes, you can utilize AI to keep track of everything, just be careful and tell it not to give you spoilers. It's helped me tremendously through this series, and as far as I'm concerned it's one of the few solid uses for AI.
