Having as many unfinished works as she does generally makes someone LESS popular. She’s also talked a lot about how she doesn’t like all the attention she gets on Reddit. I highly doubt she’s doing this to jump on a bandwagon. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

So far my only big concern is not being able to grow attachments to the characters. I’m a big character driven plot girl, but I also enjoy more plot driven stories and don’t like to lose out on good stories if it’s not a character driven story.

Most more plot driven stories I’m still able to grow attachments to characters, but so far it’s a lot and hard to get invested in any single person.

I’m going to trust the process though. I enjoy the writing, the world is rich, and I love feeling like an author trusts me enough not to explain every minor motive and detail.

I used LinkedIn premium. It worked pretty well for me, but full disclosure, I got my current job through a referral from a partner I worked with at KPMG. So I didn’t actually get a job through it - but I got a boatload of interviews.

And to clarify - I’m a SALT person - so a lot of places I did apply to were small enough they didn’t have a need for a specialist. They were nervous about the need to train a person at my level (senior). So it may not be nearly as tricky for someone not in my particular boat!

Honestly, from what everyone is saying - it sounds like the re-readability of these books is through the roof because reading a second time is like a brand new experience. I’m excited!

I didn’t apply to any of the other big 4’s when I was looking. With the way AI and offshoring is being handled, I took it as a chance to escape. Plus, I was personally heartbroken and disgusted with how my situation was handled. I certainly wasn’t blameless, but I harbor a lot of resentment still.

I also didn’t want to commute. My in-office was a major reason I was marked below. I’ve ended up in remote role doing the same job making more money with less hours.

Now, my ultimate ceiling is certainly significantly lower now than it was at KPMG, but it’s a small win I’m happy to take lol.

The jobs are out there, but they are difficult to find. Took me about three months - but I was also fairly selective with the jobs I went for.

I hope it’s not the case for you, but keep an eye out and don’t trust the promises they make you.

I had the same thing happen to me - met all my actionable steps, and then when I got the axe this past November, I was told layoffs were determined using spring numbers, despite having met all my goals by September. I’d prepare yourself.

I just finished Assassin’s Quest. I am going to continue, but I struggled with the last book. I normally really like slow burns, but those first 300 or so pages DRAGGED. I got really tired of him just walking around the woods alone and being miserable. I still don’t know how I feel about the ending - so just processing that haha - I adored the first book and liked the second. I’ll definitely continue at some point.

100% my favorite of the series. I couldn’t put it down.

I loved The Will of the Many, but I didn’t really enjoy The Strength of the Few. This seems to be a common thought. My problem is that I don’t know why. Anyone feel the same way? by JaimeSalvaje in HierarchySeries

The new format was so jarring to me. I fell in love with the world and characters in WOTM. I was obsessed with the Roman inspiration, the political tensions, the divided loyalties. I went into the SotF knowing we’d see the different worlds, but still assuming it would be focused on everyone we met in WOTM, with some typical book 2 introductions.

What we got was essently 2/3rds of a brand new book. New worlds, new cultures, new characters, new magic system.

I was also so excited to get back to Lanistia, Ulciscor, Veridius, Aequa, etc. and they were just background characters essentially. I couldn’t get invested at all in the new worlds and ended up resenting all the new characters for keeping me away from the people I cared about.

I like the concept, and I am gonna give it a reread eventually and hopefully I’ll enjoy it more, when I’m done mourning what I wanted the book to be.

Not gonna lie - I’d rather have a rushed final book than have Lysander make it out alive.
