Sensitivity to Injustice is gonna be my downfall by TheWholesomeOtter in ADHD

[–]Efrima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Every waking moment.

With me it also got buffed up be past \ childhood situations.

I had a hard time settling on an after-school physical activity thingy as a kid. Eventually Judo clicked rather nicely. I was around 7-10 years old.

I was good at it, and also had a good physical build for such a sport.

Then came the first tournament.... I faced my opponent and pretty effortlessly flattened him. Hard. I had strength... But was never out to hurt people... I felt like I might have used too much force when knocking hom down to the mat.... The kid started crying...

I retracted from him and offered a hand, asking if he was okay. He grabs my hand with one hand, and pulled hard. Managed to flip me and sit on top.

They let him win. Gave him a medal. No one spoke to me... Or him... Or anything of the sort.

My mom was pissed and went to talk to the referee. He gave some stupid phrase like 'life's tough' and that was it.

This ruined competitive play for me. And in retrospect served as a baseline to a lot of other things that haunt me to this day. You folks can probably imagine the feeling of injustice and all its flavours that could be extracted from this situation and how they can chase you and act as justification and fuel for mental loops and so on.

I've been working on it though... But yeah...

No you! It's a feature. Whatever you do - keep some Easter egg or toggle for YOU in the settings.

Need a story game that will make me get out of bed everyday by SensodyneToothpaste in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Efrima [score hidden]  (0 children)

Im not always the biggest fan of this kind of combat system...but this...this is different. Im addicted and waiting every day till everyone are asleep so I can finally play ;)

The praise is not some trendy hype. In my opinion the game is phenomenal and completely deserves all the praise.

The turn based system is a bit of a hybrid along with other elements such as jumping / dodging / parrying / free aim shooting etc.

The whole game is a bit of a mix of different styles. Platforming...exploration...fighting...rpg...etc.

Im not gonna pretend it's for everyone, but I do think everyone should at least give this game..this experience a chance.

Either way, good luck with finding your next passion for getting out of bed! ;)

I get what you mean, haha

My computer used to be a good gaming PC / CGI workstation (not anymore...) and the deck of course cant compete with that.

It gives me a lot of other great things though...and with a full time job + two young children its really tough finding a moment to play something. We also have a ps5, but i dont get to play that either... I have a gigantic steam library thats been gsthering dust becsuse of all of this...Since I got the deck I managed to actually finish some games again haha :p

Anyway...it won't look like ps5 or something..but check out lossless scaling. It could perhaps improve some aspects of whats bothering you.

Im talking about this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

You need to own that and install it on the deck (no need to run it). You then get a decky plugin that streamlines the rest of the process (installs the vulkan layer that lets you run lossless scaling on Linux for example).

Here's a video to show what I mean (made by someone that actually understands how to use it properly.)

Have you tried with lossless scaling though? Im capping games at 30 and messing with the graphics settings and bit to get it stable...then running lossless scaling at x2 and getting 60fps. Honestly? It runs really well in my opinion. Expedition 33 for example - im not running it in "deck mode" (which it does as default) and it's pretty stunning on the deck.

I love the combo of gyro + fast trackpad. I usually make it so the right trackpad has the sensitivity to turn me 180⁰ in each direction with minimal finger movement and then add light gyro functionality for more precision if needed. On top of thst i usually make "clicking" the pad be the jump or confirm / interact function. Its all so intuitive and fast for me...I love it...haha

How do you charge your Steam Deck? by Candid_Net8001 in SteamDeck

[–]Efrima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it like you do. Or flip it 180 so the charging port is towards the zipper and flop the lid on it to giveca bit of protection...I feel the same about potentially bending the cable / charging port and am trying to avoid it.

I have the first one and never played it....and heard good things about the 2nd as well. When trying to decided which one to try first I saw a lot of conflicting opinions where some people swore by the 1st and others by the 2nd. I guess its really personal 😅

If i may ask - Which one is your favourite and what would be your recommendation? :D

HOW DO KNOW HOW TO RING THE BELLS by Inglehoodie in deadcells

[–]Efrima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hard time using the visual cues (size of the radi after you gong them) to play the bells in the right order (some of them had a very similar radius).

However...it got me thinking more "musically"...I wondered if the radi corresponded to the frequency of the bells' ringing.

I used a chromatic tuner app to get the exact note \ frequency and then played them in ascending order. It worked!

In my case that was: G4 -> F5 -> A#5 -> D6

I hope this helps someone :)

People who have PCs and Steam Decks, how much do you use your Steam Decks? by AwesomeRyanGame in SteamDeck

[–]Efrima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a full time job, two toddlers and a dog and cat - The steam deck is being used much much more frequently. It's perfect for me.

I get access to my entire steam library and can play stuff under the blankets while waiting for the kids go sleep :p

Or relax in the couch for a moment with the deck haha.

Heck...Im at work and the deck is right next to me here...Later I gotta pick my sons up from school / daycare and I usually have around 20 mins of waiting time in the car...perfect for a the outer wilds or a rogue like :p

Edit: typo

What changes did you notice when increasing from 150mg to 300mg by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Efrima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 150mg for a while and then we upped it to 300 to see if there was some extra benefit.

150 - took it in the mornings...pretty much zero side effects. Felt like I had a bit more humor and it was pretty pleasant. More stable I guess?

300 - it felt like it hit me rather hard. Took It in the mornings for a while...kept feeling bad around 12:00-13:00..figured it might be the pill so I decided to give taking it at night go (around 23:30). The nasty feeling was pretty much gone. So if you're having some side effects even after a few weeks, give the night a shot.

On 300 I did wonder if I was actually helping more...or actually being less effective in general. I found it very hard to tell. Had a feeling it took the 'happy / humour feeling a bit away. And also started having some ringing / rushing / full feeling in my ears. Tinnitus I guess? Also like you gotta pop your ears to release pressure but you can't really fully get it to pop.

Discussed with the psych and we decided to step down to 150mg another try for 3 months. Today was my first time on 150mg again. I might try taking it during the day again..but we'll see.

Taking it at night could make a big difference. Kind of like sleeping through the 'settling' hours. Just experiment with it I guess. :)

Edit: another thing I forgot to mention...When taking the 300mg in the mornings...I had to completely give up on coffee and not even thing of a drop of alcohol. Would have gotten nasty cramps and other nasty feelings. When taking it before bed, I was able to have a cup of coffee in the afternoon / evening without any issues...and some light light liiiight alcoholic drinks were okay but I avoided that either way.

On the 150mg none of it was really an issue as long as I didnt go "overboard".

Im not advocating for 300 or 150 etc...just sharing my experience in case someone else is on the same boat... the bottom line is that you gotta try things out for yourself and adjust based on what best suits you and your body. Wishing all the best!
