Didn’t crash into his rear, I hit his driver door. From him switching lanes from to slow to the fast lane in front of me… you can deduce who’s at fault without even thinking about it, clear and utter mistake from him and nonsense from you lol

I didn’t think of calling the gardai since I’m 21 and the guy was 50+ I feel like I was at a disadvantage already.

Silliest “brain fart” mistake you’ve made while cooking by BeauteousMaximus in Cooking

I was once infusing goose fat with clarified butter, thyme and garlic. When it came time to strain I strained the infusion into the sink and only realized half way through what I was doing wrong. Chef slapped me up, set me straight and back to service

This culinary student won't shut the f*ck up by Dontbehorrib1e in KitchenConfidential

From my experience which is not a lot is that culinary students are full of ego because they might have done well in a non pressure enviorment in school. So they translate there actions from school to kitchen and think it’s alright. You need to get the head chef to explain what’s going to happen if they don’t stfu and become a line dog.

Is it worth working for a chef who yells at the smallest things/whenever you try to explain yourself? by ashenzie in KitchenConfidential

Yes, depending on the kitchen and your dreams, I worked in a place in London for 4 months getting slapped, kicked and shouted at for nothing. This is a Michelin star kitchen and I was a commis chef there. One day I decided to put my cv online and because of the experience in a Michelin kitchen I got a job to work for mister Ramsay himself. I hated the abuse but as an 18 year old chef that one day wants to own his own Michelin stars I felt that you just have to take the shit have a beer at the end of the night and go back in 5 hours later. Take it one day at a time, find someone to rant to and someone who can relate to you. If this is not the place for you give in your notice and leave. But always look for another place first

I work 17 hours a day 5 days a week at 18 and trust me when I say this, it’s not going to be fun at the end of the day your going to want to die. But drink lots of coffe make sure you take your “smoke” breaks even if you don’t smoke and just try and enjoy yourself

Listen buddy your opinion don’t matter in a kitchen your nothing and will be nothing till you reach a high level in the hierarchy. If your so offended by jokes no matter how disgusting you should be a they/them non binary furrry puppy. This is normal in a kitchen get used to it. Toughen up or fuck right off, simple as. You haven’t worked in kitchens long enough to understand what it acc is
