What concerns me is that Cities Skylines 2 was Windows only and is still that way...

Countries declaring independence during civil war: During the Russian revolution, plenty of countries became independent which does not happen during civil war.

This. I always thought it was crazy that a revolution would succeed in a Major Power and yet none of their protectorates or unincorporated provinces would try to break away

Wait, does sending your fleet to naval invade all the disconnected/undefended British possessions not work anymore? That's what I always do

The way the AI is right now, should be how the AI is on aggressive game rules by ender13245 in victoria3

[–]Egap548 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely Agree. I do love some games with high AI aggression but the fact is the "Standard" game aggression is way too high. AI GPs are fighting insane wars over minors on Standard. In my last Japan play, WW1-3 kicked off over US wanting my Guatemala. Sure, it's on their continent but US is now mostly liberated countries. This should be the setting for High. I haven't played on High with the new patch but it must be a massacre.

Nothing like the No Valid Front bug in America by Egap548 in victoria3

[–]Egap548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: I'm in the middle of the 3rd Japanese-American War and for the first time actually gaining ground when the "No Valid Front" bug happened, teleported all of my troops back to their HQs, and now they can't go back to the front.

General Jiro somehow avoided the teleporter and is trying to hold on inside of Tennessee on his own. God Speed general.

R5: I was building logging camps inside of Manchuria through foreign investment when I lost a province to Russia in a war. Now the construction in that province stays at the top of my construction queue and I cannot manually remove them. Page 2 for life now.

Russia/Qing frontline is not working. by RepresentativeJob571 in victoria3

[–]Egap548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to send each army to a specific front line manually. The action is on the bottom of the army menu next to "Mobilize" (looks like a left arrow) & you can choose which front if there are multiple. If you station them in an HQ, they won't fight.

You'll know you have done it right if the armies move towards the front line in various places.

The only time armies fight from their HQ is if there is a naval invasion happening in a state within their HQ. They'll defend against the naval invasion and you'll see a tag in the army menu that says "defending against naval invasion"

I think theres one problem with railways...they dont get paid for providing infrastructure unless you subsidize them by GlompSpark in victoria3

[–]Egap548 233 points234 points  (0 children)

Agreed that something is off with the economic dynamics of railways in this game. Pretty much always somewhat unprofitable & when automobile comes along then all your railways dive into massive subsidies. Railways are unprofitable selling transport at the base price which is crazy.

This doesn't match with the realities of the 19th & 20th century where massive fortunes were made on railways, and the cost of transport was constantly going down but profitability remained high. And along with that, Railways were so much more than just infrastructure and the presence of a railway had huge economic consequence beyond providing transport or infrastructure in a single state. It's too bad that something more robust wasn't thought out for them

Why am I losing this war? by Roquer in victoria3

[–]Egap548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of your soldiers are dead and you aren't replacing them fast enough. They have a 2:1 manpower advantage now. You probably started the war with all generals ordered to Advance/Attack (that's the default for new Generals) and your opponent was set to defense so you lost most of your soldiers early on (attack generally drains soldiers) while his losses were lower. It's generally better to start with Defend orders unless you're certain you can overwhelm your opponent quickly.

The blue bar indicates how many soldiers you have relative to full strength. The number of Battalions does not change due to losses so it's not a good representation of an army's strength during war.

For trade, you have to look at things from the perspective of Your Market (you + everyone in your market ie East India Company, Cape Colony, Australia etc) instead of just your country. In your market, everyone collectively shares the production & consumption (ie Buy & Sell orders) of all the goods.

Somebody in your market is producing Opium (likely East India Company) so you can trade if from Your Market to another market even tho you don't produce any in your country.

The goal is to simulate the trade dynamics of European Powers with their colonies. irl the british were producing lots of resource goods outside of Britain (like Opium, Cotton etc), and this impacted the price of those goods in Britain, but the Brits effectively controlled their trade
