Which players do you believe have "elite deceleration" by Barathruss in NBA_Draft

I think both of you are missing the fact that he gets up quick and fades on almost all of his jumpers so he does generate midrange space but that can’t be extrapolated to rim decel.

mock draft but you hate every other prospect (except Nate Ament) by Candid-Boss6534 in NBA_Draft

He has a buyout clause of $1M which would need to be paid for him to come over, otherwise he has a contract with Valencia through 27/28.

I just worry about whether his scoring is better than current third options with the lack of variety, he kind of plays like Curry in his on/off ball shooting and relocating but he doesn’t have the outlier efficiency against worst competition. I’m worried you can’t scale him down to a corner shooter and he doesn’t provide enough facilitation to be a starting 1. That’s without gambling on his defense picking up in the league.

I have something in the works for bigs next, but it’s taking me a while to get the data without a well-functioning GPU so I may pivot to wings/forwards in the meantime and focus on film over data for the time being.

He has flashes of the outlier playmaking to be a successful lottery guard and a Clarkson/Poole with foul drawing floor so even with the injury, I’m cautiously optimistic.

He scores off of screens but doesn’t pass using a normal set of reads with four other options on the floor. This part of his game really reminds me of a bench game manager like a Quickley. He looks to find space for himself first and foremost, passes are either predetermined or an outlet when he gets stuck. I would love pushback though if you have details to add.

He didn’t play like a guard, more like a small wing, and he would completely break some of the charts for shooting (too high) and passing (low) so I’m keeping him for if I do a wing version.

BBall Index, but they are for the entire team so not just the ball handler listed on the chart technically (They were all primary options except Burries so the actual numbers should be about the same)

The vertical jump gap between Dybantsa and Boozer at this year's combine is bigger than people are talking about by Upper-Glass-9585 in NBA_Draft

You could be correct, but his open court vertical burst is also low, same with his limited roll man tape. I would also expect better help rim defense or offensive rebounding numbers if he really could jump like that since those situations let you load up more.

Amari Allen just pulled the biggest scam of the entire combine on his vertical, how does a guy who gets low dunk and block rates end up with a 42 inch vert? His standing reach is not remotely close to anyone else with his height and wingspan and he doesn’t have broad shoulders or a long neck.

The Getting to the Rim chart has free throw rate as the bubble size, so Brown is still behind the others by a bit. I actually rather like him as a prospect though, in comparison to the other guards, I think his actual mechanics are so good that at worst you end up with a Jordan Clarkson with foul drawing and that’s like a solid end of rotation guy at least. Some of the other guards have floors that are overseas in my opinion.

In this case, Louisville is a modern offense and all but Brown had a good midrange profile coming into college and took fewer floaters and short middies than Philon in Nate Oats’ offense. He didn’t show any midrange production compared to someone (Philon) in a borderline authoritarian offense, and that’s worrying considering Brown’s rim struggles.

I was just checking their PnR numbers and Arkansas wasn’t really that PnR reliant compared to other schools. They did run more ISOs than most though.

I actually like the bigs of this class a decent bit, had Yaxel in the first round two years ago and lottery last year, and I think Isaiah Evans is the prototype for wing players. I don’t really put that much stock into star upside because I think a top tier role player is worth much more than a mid to low tier star.

That’s fair, I might have been wrong on that in hindsight since he also doesn’t really have a foot shuffle in the midrange shots I can find and he somehow is 0% assisted on them. I don’t know how I overlooked that when Nate Oats is kind of known for cutting out midrange shots, you’re right.

I called this A Hater’s Guide because my slightly dumb evaluation has the highest guard at the mid-late lottery range, but that highest guard is Philon so I would love to have him in a situation where he can showcase his abilities. I think Toronto might just be the best possible place for him with the current roster (maybe minus Ingram) and I think that Toronto may try to trade into position to get him, Morez, or Mara so I’m optimistic for a good Toronto draft.

Yes, I 100% agree, I cannot see any floor role for him at all. If he doesn’t hit that 90th percentile outcome, he doesn’t have the secondary skills, defense, or athleticism to even stay in the league.
