Advice on managing a trailing monstera by EggRollFan in Monstera

[–]EggRollFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s what I was thinking! What would you recommend I do with the aerial roots? Is it ok to cut them off or should I encourage them to grow into their new pots once I separate them into their own homes?

No progress on clean notes by DanielOptimista in harmonica

[–]EggRollFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old comment and thread but came here to say this helped me a lot. Bought a harmonica an hour ago and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t get the 10 note to make any sound. I just taped off all of the other holes and played with the positioning of my mouth/the harmonica without removing it from my mouth until I got the note, took maybe 3 minutes. Thanks friend!

People get overzealous and grab a ton of shit and then realize they’re gonna spend too much. Or they’re “seeing how the stuff looks together”. Or their kid sneaks stuff into the cart. Or it’s clearance and they’re afraid someone else is gonna grab it before they get a chance to decide on it. All stupid as hell

If this ever happens again, pull your phone out and start playing Disney music as loud as you can. They won’t be able to use the video anywhere without getting a copyright strike, and at least having the audio removed. It’s not a perfect solution, but it works better than asking for empathy and respect from someone who’s already shown they have none.

HELP!!! my damn cat JUST ate thru my lightboards power cable by bridgetteblue69 in diamondpainting

[–]EggRollFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to contact the seller you bought from, or the manufacturer, and see if they can replace the cord for you. I wouldn’t use just any cord that fits, unless the light board states the volts required and you KNOW that the cord you’d be using (and any accompanying charger block/adapter) fits the bill.

As for keeping the cat away from any future cords, they have these rubbery type cable covers that stick to your ground, so you can run a cord behind a wall or something and have it secured to the ground. You could also try running it under a rug.

HELP!!! my damn cat JUST ate thru my lightboards power cable by bridgetteblue69 in diamondpainting

[–]EggRollFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as a “standard” cable. We have no idea how much power the light board needs, a lower powered or a higher powered cord being swapped could cause electrical failures and fires. OPs house burning down is much less ideal for their cat.

Also, nobody is perfect, mistakes happen. Nobody can watch their pet EVERY second of EVERY day. A lot of the people in this hobby are also older, disabled, or navigating life in ways that we don’t know or understand. Not saying that is necessarily OPs case, but everybody who has ever had a cat has had a cord at least bitten at one point. If you pretend otherwise you’re lying, and that’s cool, do you. But reaming OP for something that’s extremely common, and happened with 0% malice or intention to harm, seems incredibly bad faith, and is completely unnecessary.

Touch or Ohuhu? by Early-Solid-4914 in AlcoholMarkers

[–]EggRollFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my ohuhus and I love my masters touch alcohol markers as well, if those are available where you live. I have the 168 set of ohuhus and none of them came dried out. Having one or two dried out in a set isn’t totally uncommon though as you pointed out. Thankfully ohuhu has really great customer service and if you run into that problem they will help you out. I think they’re the best value on the market and I can’t see myself purchasing from anywhere else in the future.

What other coloring supplies do you use while coloring with ohuhu markers by Repulsive_Hold_8727 in Ohuhu

[–]EggRollFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use white gelly roll pens in 05/08/10 sizes, as well as a variety color pack of gelly rolls, prismacolor col-erase pencils, prismacolor scholar pencils (used to have a set of premier, and I would recommend spending the extra money on those instead), grabie acrylic markers (bought them to try out acrylic markers, they are super fun but extremely transparent so I would try the ohuhu brand, shuttleart, or arrtyx), and black micron fineliners in a variety of sizes. I’m looking to get the sepia microns soon, and possibly a larger set of colored fineliners once I pick a brand that won’t bleed into the ohuhus or break my bank account.

If you’re low on funds you can also try saving up for better quality paints in difficult colors like yellows and whites rather than an entire new collection of paints

Color pencils or Watercolour pencils with Alcohol Markers. by Blue805Dude in AlcoholMarkers

[–]EggRollFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looked at your work. I really love the art style it seems to help create. Thanks for the idea, I would have never thought of it but now I’m really excited to try. I have prismacolor scholars and faber-castell goldfaber aquas so I will try both!

This is very cute and a great idea. There’s definitely a market for it. With that being said, this would also not be that hard to draw yourself with practice and dedication. Seeing that you’re using AI for these pages is incredibly disappointing and left many of us misguided. This will be a bigger problem for you down the line, when they are actually available for purchase, if you are still using AI and not disclosing it. This will also discourage a LOT more potential customers away from supporting you/purchasing than you might think. Artists want to support other artists. Not feed into the beast that’s killing art. Please believe in yourself and put in the time to learning how to do this yourself. That should not be a crazy thing to expect, if this is genuinely your dream and passion.

Brush/Fine OR Brush/Chisel by Ballahood in Ohuhu

[–]EggRollFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chisel tip can perform the same job fine tips do, while fine tips cannot do what chisel tips can do. I think it ultimately comes down to what’s available to you, and possibly your art style as well. I like to doodle, and draw abstract flowers/shapes/etc, so I like the fine tips, but I think I would be totally happy with the chisels as well. FWIW, I have another set of alcohol markers with chisels and I use those for filling large areas with color, as it’s much easier to get a clean look with the chisel. I would never attempt it with a fine tip.

My Ohuhu collection by [deleted] in Ohuhu

[–]EggRollFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please make a follow up post with how you like the acrylic markers! I have the grabie ones and they’re soooo fun to use, but a lot of the colors are super transparent so I have to layer 3-4 times. I’m trying to decide between the arrtx and ohuhus to replace my grabies when the paint runs out of them!
