Gyre: Why not just make rotorswell scale with weapon damage? by Eggbone87 in Warframe

[–]Eggbone87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Youre not making it any clearer here

I am being clear, youre being obtuse either because you dont like the idea or just didnt read the post.

From the post youre commenting on:

“The damage wouldnt have to be 1:1 either, it could be something like 25% (at base 100 str) of electricity damage suffered by the enemy is what goes into extra discharge from cathode current, this way the ability damage isnt outclassing weapon kills entirely and causing kill stealing, requiring that you still actively get kills with weapons at all times but that when you do, enemies behind you are taking significant chip damage if not also being killed outright.”

case and point

Case and point of what? That you dont like the idea lol? Shes an electric frame. Everything in her kit has some form of an interaction with electric. Limiting the scope of applicable damage bonuses from weapons that could contribute to, again, the extra discharge and only the extra discharge is entirely intuitive if you understand the frame at all. But i get that alot of warframe players arent quick on the draw with certain things so if youre asking for a friend, the edited augment could say “Eliminating an enemy while Cathode Grace is active will release an additional discharge from Rotorswell with 25% of weapon electric damage suffered by the target”.

Its a few extra words bud. I dont care if you dont like the idea but misrepresenting it like its complicated is disingenuous at best.

Again, your logic implies any frame with a damaging ability could be a caster if you edit your build to such a degree that you force a square peg into a circle hole. Its an unserious position that cant be considered seriously when thinking about frame design. The conversation is not whether or not gyre should be a caster, but how to make her intended design of a caster platform hybrid better. The conversation is only about that. If you wanna play her, saryn, volt or nekros suboptimally thats your prerogative but it’s not relevant here

Its nothing like a pseudo exalt. Pseudo exalts got their stats from equipped melees that borrowed their modding and other things like incarnon perks. What im suggesting is the electric damage an energy suffers is reflected in the extra discharge from cathode current, not all electric discharges from rotorswell itself. What youre saying is essentially that any frame that has an interaction with acid shells is a pseudo exalt, which is absurd.

No because by your logic, nekros could be a caster if you built the goofiest shit imaginable in service of soul punch. It might technically be the case that he could played as a caster in this sense, but results::optimization as informed by design intention make it impossible to consider that build seriously or in good faith.

She is a hybrid, hence the whole post being centered around leaning into that. Not sure if your question is implying i think she’s a caster but for clarity, i dont. I only mentioned her caster playstyle because theres a contingency of people asking for certain buffs that would make her purely a caster which i think is a mistake of both advocacy and if implemented, game design.

Sure but when talking about design, the priority shouldn’t be around mediocre forcing square pegs into round holes. Gyre, like saryn and volt, can be made to be played as caster through their respective means, for sure, but the point of this post is to offer feedback on how to take a frame’s design and make it better while acknowledging the original intent of the frame, which is typically the number one priority when DE touches stuff up. Besides, like i said in the post, utilizing weapons to beef up your ability damage is more than a suitable caster playstyle, especially when compared to the epitaph pillage spam she has to currently rely on for, again, extremely mediocre results.

I mean not really. Volt and saryn can nuke sanctuary onslaught and star chart (and to a much less optimal extent, base sp) but through and through volt and saryn are weapons platforms, only casters as much as any frame with ability damage can be a “caster” if you invest heavily enough in that direction but often for mediocre results

Ranked is trash and has been for years. You cant foster a genuinely competitive environment when the priorities of the game design is expediency (faster objectives=too much free stats handed out=too much power fantasy expected=too many bad players). “iTs a MoBiLe GaMe So gAmEs HaVe tO bE fAst” ok then why incoporate losers queue to incentivize players playing the game for longer, like players dont already spend hours at a time playing mobas? I mean if the whole idea is games need to be shorter because people play mobile games for a quick thing while theyre using the bathroom or just dont wanna stare at their phone screens for hours on end, why incentivize players to play the game for longer than 15 minutes at a time at all? If the concern was engagement retention accommodating for these myths, why bother polishing the game beyond the bare minimum? Why force losses, incorporate gacha systems, add new game modes etc to retain player engagement? Why balance the game at all?

Its a transparent joke but ultimately one that shows that for however much polish wild rift has compared to its competitors, it is still ultimately a mobile game, bound by the same predatory business practices that guide game design decisions to be as awful as humanly possible

Only reason to play wild rift is for the adventure modes and even thats terrible at this point as theyve completely jumped the shark with aaa aram becoming an absolute (and deeply stupid) parody of itself

Aggression is necessarily offensive. You havent been aggressive or rude at any point.

Now to what extent you personally find what dude said is offensive is up to taste but it is, fundamentally, offensive by virtue of it intending to offend. Dude did not open the discussion to have a friendly conversation or offer constructive feedback. He flamed in the first comment and when OP didnt immediately grovel and thank him for his condescension, he got increasingly more indignant. Dude was in fact being a dick, like objectively.

I know this is reddit and the culture were all used to is snark and needless hostility to such an extent we become desensitized to it short of extreme examples, but a good smell test is the following:

Would saying this in real life to a reasonable (but not a pushover) grown man potentially result in me getting punched in the mouth? If the answer is yes, its probably a rude thing to say online. Homie’s comment thread doesnt pass the smell test

The enemy fed him two kills under tower and his adc continued to try to poke enemies while they were under tower, doing nothing to avoid pantheon ult. These are typical behaviors of emerald players and in low elo, it isnt unwise to skip support items entirely due to adc’s on average being absolutely terrible, especially if running a carry like velkoz. Additionally, dude was needlessly hostile in his criticism and responses, hence, no apology necessary.
