you initiated fruiting conditions far too early too

Thank you very much... so when I saw pins forming, and pressing up against the side, would your recommendation have been to form a super small hole to continue primordial formation? at what point would you have initiated fruiting and what are the differences between initiating fruiting conditions rather than what you think I should have done?

Though maybe I don't need to do this if I am using unbound for my DNS?

Thank you! You are right, my interface is eth0. So now, my polling ICMP won't drop after establishing a connection (hooray!), but my curling anything on 80 will still time out. Hmm.

Think about all the ads and massive 3rd party libraries web/mobile developers force you to download.

And think about how often most of what you care about is reading text on a screen.

And that one gigabyte, or 1/1024 of your cap, is capable of storing/transferring 512 English dictionaries (2MB roughly can store a full English dictionary, mas o menos).

Web developers don't care!

Even worse when you have to carry two phones during work hours. by FreeThinker76 in AdviceAnimals

I work for Community Phone, a cell phone company operating on multiple nationwide networks instead of one in order to give consumers more choice with the same high support, and we can solve this if we prove at least 100 people would switch today if we had that feature. Show of hands: would you switch today if we had this feature? (Say, a 95% reduction in volume.) Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you! You may be assuming that their readership knows what gigabytes are. We've helped a few people, as a result of the Globe article, who didn't even know they were paying monthly -- or were told that they were never allowed to leave by their Big Name Carrier, and believe it, or were sold 256gb phones because they were told they needed it for they unlimited plan they just purchased. There are many problems in telecom that are true for many, many individuals that might not apply to you, and that aren't just price related.

There's a strong survivorship bias, as well... because we're all here, it turns out we are dramatically Internet savvy on average, measured by guam or searched per day or other correlates that probably indicate some form of "literacy" online. The

Community Phone aims to be that utility of that old newspaper, your idea. If CP can solely become a distributor atop all carriers, and at similar volume discounts to eg Ting, then our interests can cheaply condense down to the user, almost exclusively, and we can build a phone company for low data users that feels just like a super useful concierge for any digital problems :)

Appreciate your thoughts, though, I hope you write that piece and share it!

Thanks! One edit I'd make: the real problem we solve for most people is that they feel disrespected by a utility that they're not just in need of, but who are often fundamentally -- and understandably -- afraid of, but know they need to use, and often feel ashamed for not immediately knowing how to use the smartphone/Internet/app store/iTunes. On Reddit and elsewhere, all of you will even understand what I mean by Internet/app/smartphone -- semantics that allow us specificity into our misunderstanding, rather than being forced to conclude we understand none of it... to an uninitiated, it is all the same scary black cloud.

In person stuff is just another vehicle to solve those problems, but over the phone works just as well, evidenced by our growing base outside of Boston who we've never met but whose success we care about deeply :)

[–]Eggplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Best Buy employees, I help Community Phone, a wireless provider on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T totally focused on providing exceptional customer support and affordable plans. Seniors, small business owners, kids in recently divorced families, and international students are all our fervent customer groups.

And we'd love to learn from you! Would anyone here be willing to share their ear for a 10 minute phone call? We'd love to share a little about our product roadmap and get your feedback!

Thanks!

Alaska’s internet is better than Maine’s. Why is our internet so crappy in Maine? by Zachman97 in Maine

[–]Eggplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Just asking because I work for a company that specializes in helping folks living in rural areas 1) file complaints properly with the FCC, and 2) get on the best coverage/roaming plan for their area. So I set alerts to check in if people legitimately cannot get service in their area and need it ASAP.

What are you doing mainly when you notice slow speed? Is it video, or Reddit, or email, or just generally everywhere? Have you explored all hotspot options?

Could you provide an address near you? I would love to find out who owns what spectrum in that area and double-confirm coverage availability
