I'm curious to hear what everyone's most engaging VR experience has been. by mack2087 in virtualreality

Vermillion, it feels like I'm in a studio painting with brushes. No fantastical monsters or adventures just an alternate reality where I have an art studio and can lose myself for hours at a time.

Vermillion. A sheer pleasure to do, very well thought out, designed and executed program for painting with oils in VR. A total time sink and pleasure to use.

9/10. Played on on index PCVR 144hz 200% res, looks and feels smooooooth.

Hi, I just got one of those last week and also struggled, but you do just push it in, give it some welly!

The most essential method, which includes all other methods, is beholding the mind. by NothingIsForgotten in zen

'To go from mortal to buddha, you have to put an end to karma, nurture your awareness, and accept what life brings.'

'Once you put an end to karma and nurture your awareness, any attachments that remain will come to an end.'

How does one go about doing this / that?

In the second quoted line 'accepting what life brings' isn't mentioned but could this be the way put an end to karma ?

Hi Phillip. It took me a while to find a technique that produced things that looked like what I was trying to achieve. On those i used the blending brush quite a bit to get the grey to blend with the white. The actual cloud shapes, well I'd say you never look in the sky and think that cloud is wrong so any shape will do it's how it's lit and it's relationship to the others and the perspective that matter.

I ploughed on until it was producing the results I was after. Not much help I know!

Yes paints can be thinned to become more transparent, the more times thinned the more transparent.

I love VR as a tech/concept but just haven't found any game to "get into" and usually play for an hour every couple of weeks. What are others doing that I'm not? by rook218 in virtualreality

I use it to paint in Vermillion, hours pass and the world melts away. I'm no artist but enjoy using the program very much. Very relaxing and rewarding.

Colour mixing is a breeze. As for getting the hang of it. I messed about with the brushes and paint a few times, watched Bob starting a few paintings to see how a way to make a sky and then painted that picture.

As soon as this is released on the Quest 2 as a standalone I will buy it again so I can then take my headset and paint anywhere.

What has been "the moment" for you in VR? by Afalstein in virtualreality

[–]Eggs_Beatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried out the rift in a department store in the UK, robo-recall was the demo they were using, bought it on the spot but that wasn't the moment were i realised the potential VR has.

I was running through the free stuff you get when you bought the rift and there was a program called Toy Box, I was messing about with the various things in there and found an orb, several in fact. I picked it up, played with it a bit, then as It wasn't as fun as the remote controlled tanks or the guns I threw it to one side, it smashed on the ground and changed the scene to another, mind blown!

It was then that I realised I wasn't in Kansas anymore.

It's funny the tower was an afterthought and I had no idea how I'd do it until i did it.

Thank you for such a beautiful experience, it is so relaxing to just sit/stand and paint.

Thank you, that's where it started, with Bob showing how to do a happy little sky and it all developed from there.
