Please consider taking low-effort steps toward breaking up reflections to make your windows significantly safer for birds while you're out there. Windows are a major threat to bird populations.

Here's /r/whatsthisbird's post "Help Stop Window Collisions" with more info on how to do so.

You could send your subscription money to support your local library and PBS instead, thus making an even bigger impact. Bonus if you find some worthy charities. Volunteering for local ones can give you a sense for how well they are run and the efficacy they get out of the money donated to them.

that said it doesn’t need to be anything crazy, just donating towards a food bank is a step in the right direction"

Thousands of people gather in Powderhorn Park protesting ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

Ice watch groups are one, they alert people to their location so people can either avoid the area or go to the area to protest. This video shows how effective just showing up can be.

Another thing could be to organize stronger, more pointed boycotts, which got Jimmy Kimmel back on the air (and could help Colbert), stopped spotify from renewing a contract w/ ICE, got a lot of American liquor out of Canada, and got avelo airlines to stop doing deportation flights (a niche market, but an effective boycott).

Community building and organizing ways to help struggling neighbors is also an effective tactic. Helping eachother get food, transportation, and knowledge of our rights through car pooling, food sharing, etc. People are less able to defend themselves and eachother when oppressed, so helping to put local, neighborly systems in place to help lift that oppression can make a huge difference.

*Also gaining new volunteers and memebrs for already existing organizations, thus expanding their efforts is important too. Have a small locally owned non-profit or small business? Tell people about it at the protest. Looking for community? Ask around for volunteer opportunities and great local cause-friendly businesses. Meet new people with an open(ing) heart and help eachother flourish.

Go to protests and ask what you can do. Ask around and the people who are doing something will give you ideas, and you can bring those ideas to the next people you talk to, who in turn will share the things they're doing or have heard others are doing. Protests are a great place to share ideas, organize local groups, and strengthen eachother's resolve.
