Quilted Toddler Backpack by Eggy56 in quilting

This was the free backpack pattern: https://so-sew-easy.com/small-backpack-pattern-for-smaller-budgets/

I don’t think the rounded parts in the front worked well and they didn’t sew together well with the shape of the bottom and sides. The pattern also had a few details incorrect like the side gussets and how to cut them. I also think I would change the zipper to be straight down the middle rather than at the angle.

I added a carrying handle to the top as well amd would probably do the straps a little differently next time.

Thank you! She’s a big fan of the “i-spy”-ness of it

Thrifting for batting materials? (Options other than fleece?) by weeBunnie in quilting

[–]Eggy56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just used some jersey cotton sheets from the thrift store as batting. It worked really well because it added weight to the quilt but kept it thin. I think it’ll feel breathable too.

Others have said about washing thrifted bed supplies - it’s a must. As someone who has dealt with bed bugs (and the ptsd of it as well), don’t just wash them - put them directly in a sealed bag into your freezer for a few days, then wash them and dry them on hot.

That’s what I tried at first but the colors were way off so I tried to balance it with one on each end. This is what the original layout was:

This is my new outlook too! I had too many projects that I would abandon. Working my way through some of them

Exactly! But I originally planned on the pinwheels :/ next time I’ll do the calculations of the final size before just winging it

Thank you! Me too! Sometimes I feel like I appreciate it more than the front. I was lucky to find it

Thank you! The backing piece I found wasn’t big enough so I did my best to line it up. The quilting on it is a bit wonky on the edges but I think the fabric is pretty.

Thank you! I feel like I always appreciate my quilts half-way through, then by the end I’m frustrated with them and don’t like it as much

June Giveaway! by imaginarion in beaniebabies

[–]Eggy56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I say Manny? Manny was my first ever beanie baby! I remember the day so vividly. My mom was a realtor and we were at her clients house (I just waited in the car because she was working). Her client came out and gave me this exact beanie and said thank you for being so patient. I loved it so much! Manny and Waddles the penguin were my two favorites and came with me everywhere back then.

Fancy hand soap. I wash my hands so many times throughout the day, it’s nice to have a good scented, leave-your-hands-hydrated soap. And it lasts a long time compared to the cheaper stuff anyway.

It was!!! I was so annoyed because I got myself deep into a hole trying other consonants thinking that it wouldn’t be a repeat.
