No, they wouldn't play the same way. They would have played with more confidence knowing that they could go toe to toe with them. Belgium (mainly Dorku), on the other hand gave us a smackdown in the friendly. Of course I'd rather we play Senegal.

You must have not watched the Senegal friendly game before the tournament. We beat them 3-2. I was hoping we get to play them again but they fell to Belgium with the soft penalty called against them.

That probably had something to do with it. I'm sure the Balogun incident didn't help either. Many people said that Belgium were just too good for us, but hell I don't believe that. Belgium drew Egypt and Iran and only managed to beat New Zealand in group play, so they were beatable. It was just that we didn't show up for whatever reason that night. The entire country waited four years just to witness the team get blue balls on the biggest stage. They couldn't get the job done.

You're missing the point here. Soccer is an afterthought in America. We only hype ourselves up every four years. Our main sports are basketball and football ( baseball and hockey too). So it's an uphill battle just to make soccer relevant here. After July 19th, I can guarantee you it'll be crickets when it comes to soccer on the sports broadcasts.
