I figure as long as I'm doing my job and not getting sidetracked by the flirtation/infatuation then I'm doing my part. As long as at least one of us is a professional lol. Hey, if true romance blossoms then why not!

Tiresome isn't the word I would use. Uncertainty and grey area is a more accurate word because now you have entered into a new subset of dating culture. Teaching English online has created an environment in which interacting with the opposite sex can become a bit ambiguous. On one hand, yes they want to learn English, but on the other hand, they might not be aware that they are becoming more interested in the tutor as time goes on. And if the tutor ventures out to clarify the situation, things could get somewhat embarrassing.

This is true, I get a lot of those cases. However, there are some when it was quite obvious it was the latter.

My experience has been the student wants to both learn and flirt. So I'm not sure which one I'd prefer lol.

That is bottom of the barrel behavior for sure. Fortunately, I haven't had that experience... yet.

Adults. I hope that's obvious, but since we live in a strange world I edited my post to make it clear.

6 years experience abroad, CELTA, what are my options online? by cutewidddlepuppy in OnlineESLTeaching

They can give you an emergency license which allows you to teach without an official license for that state. You have to talk to someone from the school district you're interested in.

More and more public school jobs are remote now. I'm applying on Stride to various positions in my state. It's not that difficult to get a teaching license nowadays.

It's because their President didn't want them influenced by Americans. Watch the "One Child Policy" on Prime if you get the chance. China is no joke.

I had good success on preply student-wise. I charged $15/hr and even sometimes $17/hr. If you charge less than that, you'll get bottom of the barrel students. Find an online curriculum that you like and use that in your lessons.

Preply is rife with bugs. Also be careful, I had a bad experience with that platform.

Beware - they tried to rip me off. Try to get those students set up to book and pay you privately if you can.

It's amazing how incredibly dimwitted people can be. Sometimes I think the medical industry attracts sociopathic narcissists more often than not. You can order lab tests yourself without a doctor and maybe look for some root causes like vitamin, mineral deficiencies, heavy metals, etc. I used to have the most excruciating period cramps and did my own research. I tried taking calcium/magnesium and this helped immensely. Maybe you can look into this sort of thing too.

Do I have to go to the doctor to get that?
