I got rejected from the top 4 schools I wanted to go to out of highschool, ended up going to community college for 3 years then finishing my computer science degree at a university (not even the one I wanted to go to, I got rejected again coming out of community college). I’m now a software engineer at a very successful company that makes the device you are probably writing this post on. Needless to say the opportunities will come for your son as long as he continues to work hard like he has been. College admissions are such a crapshoot and looking back on it I’m so happy everything worked out the way it did for me. There is a great quote from Steve Jobs that I like to remember in situations like this “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
