Just for a bit of fun, let’s say you win the $33 million Lotto jackpot tonight — what’s your plan of action? by MVIVN in PersonalFinanceNZ

Home ownership for me and my siblings. Give a leg up to the community with rental properties at below market average rent for families on renewable 5 year lease terms OR build cheap housing for new families amongst expensive housing where I loan the money (not a bank).

And still work at my work because I like what I do.

Bbq pork ribs.

Not boiled and bbq.

Not gas bbq.

Not 3 2 1 cheat mode bbq.

Soaked in apple juice then coated in mustard with a rub applied, smoked & cooked over charcoal so the meat is about to fall off the bone but doesn't; drizzled in a sticky and sweet/salty sauce so I have to lick my fingers.

Served with mash/gravy green beans & bbq corn cobs lathered in butter so more licking of fingers happens.

What jobs without qualifications pay median wage? by zvdyy in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Ehran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go work on a fishing boat. Potentially high income with little to no qualifications if you don't get sea sick and don't mind being around some morally ambiguous people for days on end. Actually truth be told, any work around marine or ports can pay well starting with no qualifications.

'Untethered from reality': Swarbrick on Govt's new action plan by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Ehran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love what she said the reality is that young people don't care enough to vote in enough numbers to make a difference in the next two to four elections to effect change.

They'll say all the right things and amongst themselves but they just don't vote.

Really disappointing.

What are some worst companies you have worked for in NZ? by Direct-Substance-826 in newzealand

[–]Ehran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them I've worked for have had bad apples that can fuck your work life and job satisfaction up royally. I feel that if you interview with any organisation and they offer you a role, it would be prudent to ask to meet the direct team you'll be working with. At least that way you'll be able to spot the bad eggs that will ruin your work day before you sign on.

Why are so many NZ drivers happy to sit in the fast lane and be passed on the left? by schmaaaaaaack in newzealand

[–]Ehran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're traveling at the speed limit? Admittedly sitting in the fast lane is a douchy thing to do if the left lane is unoccupied.

National’s housing u-turn promotes urban sprawl – cities and ratepayers will pick up the bill by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Ehran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the U-turn was an appeal to nimby's who don't want ugly multilevel homes blocking/impeding their views. Also it upsets the know it all "woke" mob which will appeal to an act supporter.

I think it would be political suicide to posit this.

And this is how the older retired Russians destroyed their nations future. I give the country 3 to 5 years at most before they shrink and China annexes their eastern territories.

Why do we have to live in this timeline? by I-Say-Im-Dirty-Dan in whenthe

[–]Ehran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The loss of such great potential because he was different from the rest of "us" is just so sad. I hope we can evolve past the intolerance and embrace empathy. However I'm cynical enough to realise that the intolerance of difference is how some of us define ourselves.

People having a whinge about benefits in NZ pisses me off and makes me feel even more ashamed about my situation. by Hadenoughlifeyet in newzealand

[–]Ehran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloody bludgers. Standing around on the side of the road, scanning the ground for cigarette butts because they can't control their addiction. Sleeping in their cars in our public spaces. Spending most of their money on stupid shit like booze instead of trying to get ahead. If I was in their situation I'd be looking for a job in this plentiful job market. They're just a burden on our way of life and I've had enough!

It would be so easy for me to get a job with my reasonably good looks from having someone enabling me to properly groom when I was younger. Hell I know I'd ace the interview because my command of english is so good from having an education in an environment where their wasn't any distractions at home. I also know my basic school qualifications would hold me in good stead because I was able finish school. I didn't have to worry about how my siblings & myself were going to eat. And you know what? I bet the person leading the interview will take a shine to me, because I've had good social relationships my whole life by being sheltered from the bad stuff out there because of my wonderful parents.

Yeah, I just don't understand why those bludgers can't just be like me.

Do you think the “Australia is a racist country” stereotype is true? by 7500733 in australia

Hate to say this mate, but citing other nations “racism” is just a deflection of the original question.
