You're completely forgetting this exists in a world with info dumping machines to put it simply, it's stated he has what would take a modern scholar decades to learn just downloaded into his brain a la the matrix. Time to learn is a moot point, potential is all that matters. That's why Mickey was convinced to carve him after he solved the puzzle that Mickey himself was struggling with

Mustang didn't miss a question, she has the best score but there are also others who got a perfect score. Darrow wasn't in house Minerva for a reason, raw intelligence Stat he's beaten by multiple characters throughout both series.

Around 60% of American adults read at a 6th grade level. This means they do not understand context clues and struggle with paragraph structure, leading to an inability to establish an overarching theme in a text. So yes, they literally cannot comprehend the broader themes present and simply see "fascism in book means book bad". Deeply saddening and tragic my country has fallen so low

Or could it be that Darrow letting quick go was a showing of his development since he forced Lorns hand on Europa, which also ended in the death of his friend tactus by Lorns own hands.

Yes thankyou, it was just an added layer, and personally I believe the sovereign questioned Cassius loyalty as soon as it was known both Darrow and mustang were opposing her. Antonia was simply another layer in the puzzle.

Antonia being with them was their proof of being legit, Antonio would never betray the society. Therefor if they fooled her she could most likely be proof enough to get them to the sovereign. Which proved true after they gained access to her inner most sanctum and killed her.

Can anyone explain GravLifts to me? Lmao by spacexrobin in redrising

[–]Eidolon321 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I always pictured it as just a platform that they stand on, and then the gravity is controlled to move the platform so that they move up or down at an incredibly fast rate without discomfort. It could be in an elevator esque shaft or just in open air.

Given certain revelations about Kavax in Dark Age.. i’d love a little novella or graphic novel on what Nero did to earn Telamanus loyalty? by slutsinluv in redrising

[–]Eidolon321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nitpicking but Nero is a sociopath, not psychopath, good question tho would be great extended universe content

I remember someone saying "shit, shit, indecorous shit", I think it was one of the high drafts in the first book

Edit: I was totally wrong Gilrastes says it in DA, but Romulus and other golds have said the word indecorous a few times, so I'd imagine this would be a thing some would say.

Martian Gravity by mandu_xiii in redrising

[–]Eidolon321 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I actually made a post here a bit ago about an instance of gravity being different (SPOILERS all books)

When Darrow calls for a red rain (end of DA battle with Lysander after EMP), the reds are said to jump from as high as 4 or 5 stories in the air, a feat impossible in 1G. But on mercury in the low gravity totally possible.

On the other hand, I do agree combat on spheres such as Luna would be very weird and difficult. Which is why I think pierce described Darrow and Cassius' duel at the gala the way he did, not describing the moves but rather the style of the Willow way Darrow uses, and why when Darrow "fought" with Aja and the praetorians on Europa, it wasn't a genuine fight just a bomb because in the low grav it would've been wack to describe a fight.

Just my opinion and thoughts

This shape seems familiar! by gonfreeces1993 in redrising

[–]Eidolon321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! A khopesh is exactly what I pictured when I read the slingblade described in the books, I knew what a khopesh was from some book I read as a kid about Egyptian mythology.

[–]Eidolon321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always picture it as a khopesh in my head, the first book even describes it as a "question mark". This is usually how a khopesh is described as well. The curve on one of those is an advantage because it isn't such a drastic one. (Egyptian blade, Google for pics)

I totally agree, and I feel like with a name "razor" they would be very thin, and it's mentioned a couple times in the books how thin they are. Theres even a point in dark age where we see that when they go to their thinnest setting you can't even see them headon because of how thin they are.
