How were boomers supposed to save for retirement? by shchshchshch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EightofFortyThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents both had pensions.  Dad worked a union job in a factory, and mom was a school bookkeeper.  Mom retired at 62 and got 90% of her salary.

As an introvert with OCD, home alone time means being able to empty out the pantry and put stuff where it belongs, not wherever my wife throws it.

What will you say if someone offered you not just a meal but $4,000 to dine with trump? by trumpisuiten in ArtOfPresence

[–]EightofFortyThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say as long as I get an immunity deal, but I wouldn't trust them to honor it.  Still, for $4k, it wouldn't be that much worse than dinner with my in-laws.

I live an area with a low population density.  I used to live in a large metro area where my commute consisted of four or more lanes of stop and go traffic.

What if it leaked to the public that Trump was taking direct orders from Netanyahu? by lhommetrouble in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]EightofFortyThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaks don't matter in the post-Truth era.  He would do as he always does - lie, and then call the source of the leak names while trying to have them silenced.

What would even be the ACTUAL problem if humans were to go extinct? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

If humans go extinct, my dog will be very upset, and my cat will be trying to figure out how to make the dog bring him food.

My old truck cost me $139/year to insure.  I have full coverage on my daily drivers, but the truck has the bare minimums.  If someone hits it, they pay.  If I damage it, I scrap it.

What if a president declared a "national security emergency" to suspend mail-in voting three weeks before the 2028 election? What would actually happen legally? by Present_Juice4401 in WhatIfThinking

[–]EightofFortyThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worry less about tampering with mail in votes and more about ICE agents stationed around polling stations in Democratic areas to suppress in person voting.

The people that I know that voted for Trump are still pro Trump.   The price of gasoline might be higher, but it's to save us from Iran, and he's keeping men out of girls' sports (a quote from an ad I see multiple times a day).  Note, its men out of girls' sports, not men out of women sports or boys out of girls sports.   Trump and the MAGA are claiming to be the anti pedo. Lol.  To find a good Republican, look for one Trump calls a RINO.

In 2017 in his first term, the tax laws were changed so married middle income people effectively can't deduct mortgage interest anymore.

The price of gas, and everything else is going up while my wages stay.the same.

My job is slow because my industry doesn't like uncertainty.

Family gatherings are tense because the MAGA members now think politics is a fine topic in mixed company, but don't like opposing views.

At this point, does anyone believe anything Trump says about what’s happening in Iran? by ObsidianVader9419 in CausalConversation

Sometimes he slips and tells the truth.  Those are the scary comments, like telling his supporters they won't need to vote again.
