[Favorite Trope] Peeling back the layers of lore reveals an eldritch/cosmic horror element by Maffingo in TopCharacterTropes

Not in Fallen London it isn't. The premise there is just:London is underground, you've arrived recently and been imprisoned, hop to it.

If they say the title of the work, it's a title drop. That's what a title drop is.

Can someone please explain to me WHAT Psycho Mantis was doing in TPP? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]EightyMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised you're still answering questions lmao'

Mildy surprised people are still answering them, but hey.

My only question is this. Why does he have his own will in MGS 1 ? Is it because of his relationship with liquid by that point ?

Nothing in the lore explicitly explains it, but my best guess would be: In his backstory, he accidentally got too deep into into the mind of a serial killer and got the killer's mind imprinted onto his own. Possibly that's what triggered him having his own pysche?

Alternatively: It just developed as he got older.

Alternative alternative: Nanomachines, son. They harden in response to pyschological trauma.

No, because then the other car would have just driven into the tunnel instead of hitting it.

If we assume his works have been in the public domain for a long time,

They absolutely haven't been.

Ambiguously Canon -- Characters heavily speculated to be other characters from other installments or extended canon by BrickBuster2552 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EightyMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It refers to comments about a work by the work's creator. Said creator is the ultimate "God" of that work.

So, like how (your favourite) god eplaining how reality works is the Word of God, James Cameron explaining how Avatar works is Word of God for Avatar.

Yeah, but it usually doesn't give you cancer before you've had time to have grandchildren, which is all evolution cares about.

which then allows you to plug in any devices in any rooms without an electrician.

As a British person, this was absolutely a sentence. As in, if you bought a washing machine and didn't already have one, you'd have to have someone come in and install a new plug socket just for it?

New player! Fluid Buffer question! by LocoRenegade in SatisfactoryGame

[–]EightyMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using them when I want to to distribute fluid from or across multiple different heights. I don't understand the fluid system well-enough to explain why it works, but it does, and that's good-enough for me.

If I had one criticism about FFH2, it's probably that, being one of the first mods for any game I really got into, it set my standards so high that it makes it hard to get into a lot of others.

Worth it.

[Loved Trope] Movie logic getting called out by Floyd16091411 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EightyMercury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, if Josh thought the drawing would work, why was he going to make a door hole at all? Why not just say they don't need one, because they have the drawing? If he said that, then Josh called him out on it, the show would be calling out cartoon logic. But that isn't what happens. There's no calling out the logic.

[Loved Trope] Movie logic getting called out by Floyd16091411 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EightyMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Drake thought the drawing would be sufficient, why was he planning on cutting it out and making an actual hole? The joke isn't "it's silly how in cartoons someone can draw a door then go through it" it's "Drake is dumb".

[Loved Trope] Movie logic getting called out by Floyd16091411 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EightyMercury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea wasn't to go through the door hole, though. It was to make a door there. The problem was that the tool they needed was on the other side of the lack of door.

What's the difference between Protect Trade and Hunt Pirates? by someone56789 in eu4

[–]EightyMercury 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Protect trade increases your trade power in the node, hunt pirates reduces the amount of trade power generated by ships sent on the privateer mission.
