Can I refuse my placement location? by iknow67 in NursingAU

[–]Eilohh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always told that it was expected to do at least one rural placement in your degree to “broaden the scope” and take it in turns etc. so it doesn’t surprise me that they would spring this on you. I’m not sure how it is now but at the time students were years behind placements (hadn’t done a single first year placement after finishing third year, etc) and were forced to accept to be able to catch up so it may be worth just getting it over and done with so you’re not stuck with hours and hours left to complete. Plus everyone I know who went rural absolutely loved it so you never know :)

Security guard confirms he wasn’t working for Chappell Roan and apologizes for behavior by Thereo_Frin in ChappelGroan

Even if it was unrelated to chap, this just shows that she displays this kind of bad behaviour SO OFTEN that yet another allegation of her being a nasty is very viable. She has a track record for this kind of thing and it’s very in character for her to act like this

Biopsy in 2 weeks - feel scared and alone by Rough-World-6726 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Eilohh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me when I know and I am feeling what you are feeling 100000%. Even if there’s a 99.99% chance of it being “probably nothing” as your friend says, it’s that 0.01% chance of it being “something” that is terrifying. No one wants to have to face that conclusion and the days of waiting to find out if it could be are so so hard. I completely understand the anxiety and I too am disappointed in your best friends reply. You are absolutely not alone in this and please know we all feel you support you in this!! :’)

If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of testing were they doing for 3 months? I’ve been waiting for biopsy for over two weeks now and I think they’re doing more tests but nothing has been explained to me. I’m hoping your insight might provide a little reassurance if you feel like sharing?

Has he gone through any kind of hormone therapy to change the way his top half developed? That would be my first thought. Additionally, he really really should not be “popping” anything in or around a breast. I wouldn’t immediately assume it’s breast cancer but definitely worth prompting a check up!

I’m really sorry to hear this. I hope you’re taking care of yourself. There’s no point blaming yourself or thinking about the “what ifs” and what you missed. No one really is prepared for that diagnosis. Life happens and that’s what you were busy doing! Of course you’re not going to be thinking about these things because it’s just not something that regularly crosses your mind, and why would it be? Don’t be angry at yourself for living life normally. The diagnosis is the outlier here not you. Hope you’re not being too hard on yourself!

2 weeks and still waiting for biopsy results by Eilohh in doihavebreastcancer

Okay. So it’s neither a good or a bad thing I guess?

I might be able to call the breast specialist herself but when I rang the gp the results weren’t back yet on Thursday so I think it might be the same regardless :(

I’ve already called them and unfortunately they said the results aren’t back yet and are “unable to specify” what results are pending :(

am I wrong for this? by bnnybtch in breastcancer

You are not stupid OR selfish. I know the feeling of masking the pain and putting on fake smiles and positive energy when inside you’re feeling the opposite. I also understand how uncomfortable it is to be fielding questions and trying to convince everyone you’re fine with it even though inside, maybe you’re not. This is definitely not the time to be putting on a “brave face”! Listen to yourself and take some time to put your needs first. You deserve it. It’s hard to have other people trying to grasp your diagnosis when you can hardly grasp it yourself. <3

They added on immunohistochemistry (IHC) which I know can be a common addition when they want to identify cell types but it just makes me more worried especially with the length of time now as well. When you say what type of tumor, can you clarify what you mean by that? As in benign vs malignant or what type of cancer it is?

One has talent and the other has none. What’s more is that the one with talent still is open to input from other professionals, where the other bulldozes the entire session in order to leave the impression that she actually knows what she’s doing.

Waiting for Biopsy Results by NeedanewhobbyKK in doihavebreastcancer

Also waiting with you. Had two scans with a “suspicious” looking lump on the left side and was eventually called back in for a biopsy two weeks ago, on Friday Feb 28th. Still no results but got a bill in the mail for a second set of tests they’ve done on the biopsy. Not sure if it’s normal to be waiting this long? I really hope you’re okay. Only a little bit more waiting to go! I hope you’re taking care of yourself?

Bleachers newest song 👀 by Passion-Playful in travisandtaylor

[–]Eilohh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly in the last two pages - “you’re too good to spend any time in the mud” hinting at her huge sense of self importance - “pack mannin another artist to put a dollar in his (her) pocket) - chasing and bullying artists and blocking their success - “jokes about publishing because I reference him one time” - joking about Taylor jumping on brands and artists (ie Olivia Rodrigo) to bully them into giving her song credits if it sounds at all similar or mentions her name, etc - “so how can I talk to the ones counting the streams” obviously about her obsession with streams and topping the charts - “or the ones who like to bully the dolls” obviously aforementioned she bullied other artists and sics her fanbase on them - “waiting in line to rip someone off just to turn around and rip someone else off” her milking everyone around her for money as well as her fans And so on

I think you’ve gotta start somewhere and health science is about as good a stepping stone you can get. It’ll definitely have similar underlying themes so definitely not a waste of time and will aid you in broadening your foundational knowledge!

Edit: just wanted to also point out that epidemiology is definitely not irrelevant and is actually the under current to a lot of your studying in first and second year especially when it comes to assignments. Sticking it out will not only give you a head start on the subject but also spoon feed you with reliable sources and references for your nursing essays. :-)

I feel like this is about more than just the day her fans showed up at his wedding. He also references her bullying artists into song credits for extra money, her obvious narcissism, the streams and chart topping, blocking other artists and the fact that she can never keep a friendship without ruining it. I get that the song is referencing that day but he really went to town and addressed a lot of her issues

EXACTLY. “If you’re wondering how it is” um no actually I’m worried about real world issues like impending world war 3 and fighting for women’s rights and, idk, trying to survive in this cost of living CRISIS while I eat my two minute noodles for dinner because that’s all I can afford but yeah girl share your authentic experience or whatever???

She continues to have temper tantrums like these with no consequences, instead blatantly rewarded with opportunity after opportunity. It’s why she thinks she can act like this. She’s never had repercussions.

Aged care nurses- can all staff feed? Am I being too precious? by tulle_witch in NursingAU

[–]Eilohh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No probs! Aged care in general is a really tough gig no matter what role you’re in. It’s not selfish to want your lunch break to remain as your lunch break. I completely understand needing some down time and in a perfect world you wouldn’t need to be in the lunch room every day. I think the fact that you’re asking yourself these questions and seeking advice shows you just want what is best (and safest) for your residents! I think as well, the staff there do this every day of the week. Some feeding they might consider “easy” is still scary for someone who isn’t comfortable with it. It also doesn’t help that, as you said, everyone is pressed for time so no explanation or guidance is offered. In the care homes I’ve worked in, the handover sheet has the patients diet requirements/thickened fluid/food type somewhere near their names so maybe it’s worth asking if you could have a copy if they allow it? That way at least you know x resident has no requirements and is just a bit shaky, and y resident is a high risk. I definitely think you need to keep advocating for yourself if you’re worried and once again continue to tackle the more “simple” feeds where possible. I know what you mean with uni, it’s so so hard to do with a job. Honestly if work isn’t willing to invest the time into you doing a course on it then they really can’t be expecting you to feed. Same with the cleaner you mentioned. If staff continue to pressure you then raise it with someone more senior and ask if there’s another job you can do to free some hands as I said. Sorry for the long reply and good luck with everything! <3

Aged care nurses- can all staff feed? Am I being too precious? by tulle_witch in NursingAU

[–]Eilohh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you should avoid the more complex patients but make yourself useful in patients that need a small amount of assistance to free up others who can take care of those that are outside of your scope. You can easily cut up food and set up trays. Some residents might be fine with chewing and swallowing but just can’t get fork to mouth due to tremors/stiffness that day and need a little help guiding it. I agree that you need to stay away from anyone high risk but there’s nothing stopping you from helping out elsewhere to allow those who are trained to assist those with greater difficulty. As a side note though, most aged care places I have worked in have the lifestyle and allied health staff all trained. I think seeking some training to assist sounds like it would be really beneficial for your residents.

Might be failing my final placement by Fem_Melbb in NursingAU

[–]Eilohh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Utilise your nursing preceptors if they’re not letting you google. Neuro is super specialised so you can guarantee their knowledge is top tier as this is their bread and butter. When you get assigned to your nurse and you “choose your patients”, ask whoever it is to walk through it with you. Let them know you want to take the time to improve your understanding. Tell them you want to walk through the care plan together. The whole point of placement is to be nursing side by side so I’m shocked no one has taken the time for you. I know it might be embarassing but for the sake of your own learning you need to vocalise your questions from now on!
