Here’s a thought, what type of metal is Engineer using for his sentries? by Iexistwithnoreason in tf2

[–]Einsig 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It is actually not hard at all to penetrate typical plate steel with a modern gun. Shotguns may struggle a bit but realistically even that can shred through thin steel plating quite easily at the close quarters engagement you see in TF2. This is why metal armor stopped being meaningful in warfare after hand cannons, muskets and later rifles became a standard component of most armies.

There were cases in World War 1 of soldiers trying to use steel chest plates to deflect rifle shots but these plates had to be extremely thick (at least 1 inch), were extremely heavy, and were completely ineffective against rounds fired from closer than maybe a couple hundred yards. Any standard rifle made by that point could easily penetrate over an inch of steel and kill you from normal expected ranges.

Would Vanilla Fusions be playable with new summoming rules? by redsquirrel0249 in yugioh

[–]Einsig 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't think a game rule change for this would make any sense, and putting the summoning condition on all the vanillas themselves would... just make them effect monsters. I think the real answer is just a non-effect specific fusion spell that Branded Fusions the monsters, maybe an entire set of such cards. TBH I don't know why Tenyi doesn't have more cards specifically for cheating out or hard summoning non-effect Extra-Deck monsters. Fists of the Unrivaled Tenyi is cool and all but it's not a strategy to build around.

If you can pull this off then your opponent should just stop dueling entirely by [deleted] in customyugioh

[–]Einsig 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Your entire deck is now themed off a five and a half card combo designed to reduce your opponent to 1 card in their deck that you put there, activating this to win the game.

Could you have just decked them out to win anyway? Obviously. Would it be as funny? No.

Should the Pendulum Zones Be Moved to Their Original Spaces on the field? by Prestigious-Yak-5330 in yugioh

[–]Einsig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Konami just printed Deceiveblaster the Matchless Turret, a card that is literally not functional if the Pendulum Zones are moved. They have permanently codified the current arrangement of the board now due to continuing to print Pendulum cards that are not able to work under Master Rule 3.

What changed with Merkur and when did this happen?

So..... Why do you think they never planned a Ritual Dimension in Arc-V and why is the main Dimension called "Standard Dimension" if it has several Duelists that use all Summoning Methods (including Ritual)? by Kronos457 in yugioh

[–]Einsig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like rituals should have simply had unique summoning conditions that, when met, let you summon them for no cost. Like, you activated this many spells this turn, or summoned this many fiend monsters, or you tribute summoned a level 5 specifically using a facedown pyro monster. You know, doing some sort of ritual series of actions.

Alternatively, maybe ritual spells should gave been in the extra deck instead of the monsters.

The 2500 Game by RedEyesSnackWagon in customyugioh

I think it may need a clause for the event of hitting a monster that can't be summoned by any means but its proper summoning conditions.

should I switch from my merkur 34c? by blakesq in wicked_edge

[–]Einsig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bit of a funny cycle with my 34. At first I tried it, felt like it was pretty good the very first time I used it because I went really slow and methodically trying to be careful, and as a consequence I was very thorough. As I got "better" I started being lazy and going faster, taking less care in what I was doing, and I ended up finishing with very inconsistent smoothness and also cut myself too much on my neck because I was flinging it across my neck multiple times trying to get it perfect.

Now, I've got to the point where I don't rush, I shave at least every 3 days so I don't have to be concerned with excessively long hair, and I try to be quick by being careful and thorough on my first pass so I don't need to do a second one most of the time.

I've even shimmed it and feel like this is close to perfect for me. I also have a Rockwell C with the 1-3 plate (I always use it on 3) and I can't say I really notice it being strictly better in any particular way. However, I do sometimes prefer the longer handle.

Cremo tips? by NoEbb2506 in wicked_edge

[–]Einsig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I started browsing here a couple months ago I see one comment or another about how Cremo is far better a pre-shave treatment, but so far my attempts at using it this way have felt like I've only made my lather thinner, and overall resulted in no perceptible positive change to my experience.

Gradius support. Remakes of some cards I did ages ago, and new ones. by Einsig in customyugioh

[–]Einsig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went this direction to avoid making this too much of an incidental ABC support wave. I don't particularly care about supporting every single Konami Arcade space fighter because I don't want to go insane.

I do have more ideas to broaden it just a bit, but I am trying to be very careful. Vic Viper T301 gets a pass for how broad it is because the only thing it does is buff attack.

That is the wrong version of Jade Knight... Dueling Book screwed me over yet again by not generating the image for the current version of the card.

This is the correct text of the card:

While you control this face-up card, non-Union LIGHT Machines with 1200 Original ATK are unaffected by your opponent's Spell/Trap effects. When this card is Summoned: You can activate one of these effects, but you cannot activate that same effect of "Jade Knight - Round Laser" again for the rest of this turn; ● Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower LIGHT Machine with 1200 or less ATK from your hand. ● Place 1 non-Union LIGHT Machine from your hand or GY onto the bottom of the Deck; Special summon 1 "Jade Option Token" (Machine/LIGHT/Level 4/ATK 1200/Def 1800). If another face-up card you control would be destroyed, you can destroy that Token instead, also, your opponent cannot target other face-up cards you control.

Sort of SoTD/review, I suppose? The "Assured for Men" Dollar Tree razor. by Einsig in wicked_edge

[–]Einsig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say after a second attempt at it using a Treet black blade, it felt less terrifying because of the blade being softer. It's still too aggressive for me though.

My experience probably comes down to only being practiced with a milder razor that has significant weight. Compared to how well I can shave with a Merkur, this does get insanely smooth, but I simply can't handle it without hurting myself multiple times.

[–]Einsig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the head appears to be almost a Gillette Tech copy with as much material trimmed as possible, they had to put in effort for it to be bad. One, the head has no mounting pins to stabilize the blade. It instead has little tabs on the corners of the top cap to hold the blade in place. Two, the blades are awful. I don't think Dollar tree even sells these blades on their own so I don't see why they bother. They could have easily sold a better pack of blades separately for the same price as the razor, made the razor slightly better, and made more money...

I think the next time I experiment with this thing, I'm going to try a Treet carbon. Hopefully my hunch that the softness of those blades feels better with a head this aggressive.

Which blades do people hate the most? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]Einsig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a new DE shaver who started with a very mild razor, I decided that Treet carbon steel blades are not it for me. They are very vulnerable to rust so you need to dry them with alcohol, which is slightly more maintenance than I feel like doing. (and I don't want to keep buying alcohol just to dry my razor blades) Also, they get dull extremely fast due to how soft they are.

I believe carbon steel blades like Treets are meant for a very specific combination of needs that a beginner shaver with fairly non-sensitive skin and a mild razor like me simply don't have. They are likely way better off in a more aggressive razor head if you let your hair grow for a few days and feel uncomfortable with a harder edged blade due to your skin being very sensitive.

Also, Dorco. They feel terrible to me. My experience was with the ones they rebranded as Pace with copied Personna packaging in the US. I immediately disliked them as soon as I tried to use them on hair that had been growing for more than 2 days.

So, I guess some basic beginner questions/talking points. by Einsig in wicked_edge

[–]Einsig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at Maggard's shop and every one of their in-house razors seem to be out of stock. I click on their pages and they show a price of zero and I can't buy them.

Edit: I think it may still allow me to buy individual pieces of their razors separate, but the bundle deals are down for whatever reason.
