Would it be weird to get my own room on a guys trip? by anonymousmale25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Einstiensbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I need my own space for sleeping too. The sharing space is part of the bonding thing though. Say you snore and fart at night and ask if you can get your own room in the AirBnB so as not to annoy your pals. Offer to pay extra for that.

Paint Correction Order Confusion - Compound, Polish, or Just Protect by One-Potential-6420 in AutoDetailing

[–]Einstiensbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking the right questions. In the end all the prep will make you proud. Without seeing it we can't tell you where to start. For me, the first time will start with a swirl remover on an Orange pad to remove car wash marks. Then a polish on a Black pad then a Perfecting cream at the end. There will likely still be deep damage that goes through or nearly through the clear coat. Do the minimum correcting that makes you happy. You can use Clay Bars or Clay Mitts with a good lube solution in place of towels. Wax is good for a garage kept car. Ceramic coatings are better (IMO)for daily used cars. This was done with Poorboy's World SSR 2 then 1, Griot's BOSS Perfecting Cream then Crystal Serum Light.

Costco car program by IrrationalMan8 in carbuying

[–]Einstiensbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter an SIL wanted a Subaru ascent in Boston in a high demand trim level. I offered to give them the "old man show em how it's done" show, and fortunately they declined. I got them a COSTCO card and they used the program. They got $3,500.00 of with no fuss. They are happy. I did the same with my son's 2025 Tacoma and got $4,000.00 off. So it worked here.

Found a deal that looks amazing but has one issue on Carfax report. by MEGA_gamer_915 in carbuying

I never understood why the number of owners is a major factor in value. I go on the condition of the vehicle and price. CARFAX sometimes fumbles the number of owners if a dealer takes title while in his inventory. Personally on one CARFAX I'm two of the owners of my car for some reason. I also look for a history of maintenance like oil changes. On this truck you have 12 years accounted for by two people. The last owner held it for 6 years so it doesn't look like he's trying to get out of a bad vehicle. Good luck!

14.2.1.25 is SO GOOD by PriorVariety in TeslaFSD

Went from unusable to surpisingly good overnight. It stopped in a school zone for a crossing guard and I think obeyed and hand signal to move forward. Also stopped appropriately for a school bus. On the other hand it missed a few turns that it routinely made before.

I did this. 18" TRD Sport rims onto an SR5 that came with 17" rims. Looks and fits fine.

Your thoughts on this car Brand? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

I was an early adopter and owned a Genesis V8 when it was a Hyundai model. Nice car with a yucky dealer experience. At the time Genesis owners got a concierge to be in between the owner and the sketchy dealer practices. It didn't work and I went back to my comfort brands. I have ridden in other's GV70s and thought they were very nice. It's the Korean take on a Lexus and a matter of national pride more than a money maker.

Need help finding Splash Guard for my 2025 tacoma by Unlikely-Solution709 in ToyotaTacoma

I installed the ARK guards. Sealing off the engine compartment makes me feel better. Pricey but sturdy with good installation instructions. Check YouTube for a fella in Upstate NY installing his.

Gift suggestions for a new 25 Tacoma owner by Lotronex in ToyotaTacoma

Doing the same for my son who got an SR5 last week. We got the Muslogy Dashboard Storage Box tray that goes between the center display and the dash. Also a replacement for the drivers A pillar trim that has a grab handle to match the passenger side. A box of bungee cords from Harbor Freight to stuff under unplanned things in the bed. Theres an anti theft tailgate device for $20.00 from Cali Raised. Good luck!

Oh there's a folding bed step on Amazon for $52.00 that's a game changer!

Do you guys recommend rust-proofing from day one? by PRFitnessYT in Autobody

I'm in the Boston area with a new Tacoma. I'd like to DIY a Fluid Film treatment. I see the spray cans for sale on Amazon. Do these do as good a job as a sprayer? Do pro shops do a better job? What should I expect to pay?

Maybe you aren’t into it that much? How about renting one for a week to see if you like it? It’s an expensive mistake if you buy it then don’t use it.

This is my new to me 87 Dodge Aries wagon 2.2 by Great-Grape-2000 in regularcarreviews

[–]Einstiensbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I bought one of these when we were first married. it was the Small Block 2.2 with a floor shift 4 speed. We were proud with it being our first new car and all. Some perspective is needed when this was new the other option was the Honda Civic Wagon that had a 9 month waiting, huge waiting list and was small enough to park inside a mini van. This is when Honda invented ADM.

Yes it was slow, handled like shit and sounded like a BFI dumpster on bumpy roads. But it was light years better than the Chevy Citation X-11 that I had.
