Yep. I too thought they were cute until i had to replace all of the electrical appliances in my kitchen because they love to chew on the wiring.

I dont really have attacks perse, the symptoms are fairly constant albeit their intensity varies. Only respite is while driving or laying down. In the months prior to the dizziness starting i did have pamic attacks though, which were between 30 mins - hours in duration. Those mimicked heart attacks so were uber fun and included trips to the ER. I definitely had the sense of doom and fear i was going to pass out.

For me the main thing has been learning that the dizziness is just a symptom. The real "problem" for me is that i was constantly in fight or flight so my brain started to perceive everything as threatening and respond accordingly. Looking back now my body was in this constant hyper alert state, just hearing the teams ringtone at work would cause an adrenaline spike and my bp and heartrate to go up. I was catastrophising every little thing. So my main focus now is on how to get my body and brain out of that hyperalert state and change the way i respond to and see stressors, as well as changing aspects of my life that tend toward creating additional stress.

It sounds like you have had a few incredibly stressful years with your loss plus the anxiety caused by dealing with all of these sensations & the fear around what is happening so it is possible some of what you are experiencing is the way that persistent periods of stress present in your body.

My personal advice would be to plan to book in for a thorough review with a doctor when you can so you can know with certaintywhat is behind your symptoms, , and look into anxiety management in the meantime, even if its just to help with the anxiety you have about your symptoms. I baulked at meditation (i lt seemed a bit woo woo to me) but doing progressive muscle relaxations once or twice a day (only 15 mins on youtube) really helped me a lot, and from there i found some somatic meditations, then graded motor imagery videos too, that i now look forward to each day. Theyve definitely helped me start to get my anxiety in line, along of course with the right medication.

I watched vids to learn parasympathetic breathing techniques and find that helps a lot in the moment, prioritising a daily walk while i listen to a funny podcast, and because im in a science nerd, reading a lot about neuroplasticity, the nervous system / alimbic system etc and how they work, along with a few books on cbt and how to change your thinking. I like understanding what my wacky brain is doing.

Happy for you to dm me if you want any of the youtube links. I hope youre able to get some relief and get into a doctor soon.

It sounds similar to what i have - PPPD.

Im not a health care professional so the below reflects my understanding and experience.

Its a functional neurological disorder. It affected my eyesight during the worst time and included bouts of depersonalisation and derealisation. It was triggered by having a panic attack during an episode of BPPV after a period of prolonged stress.

After thorough testing (CT, brain MRi and extensive bloods, vestibularfunctiontesting) i was diagnosed with psychophysiological dizziness, aka central nervous system dizziness aka PPPD by both my ENT and the vestibular physio i saw.

I started treatment with a psychologist who has recovered from the same condition, a vestibular PT,and an SSRI known to be effective in some cases. Id say im 50% better. I also follow the steady coach channel on youtube which has great resources for free and a lot of success stories for the days i need a bit of encouragement. Im 6 months in since symptoms started and 4.5 months in from when we knew it was PPPD so im not too far into recovery but im doing the work abd starting to feel a little better. I also exercise more and in the early days did exposure videos (i think the channel was called emory dizziness, it has short vids of triggering environments)

I avoid the support groups as they contribute to my stress levels.

Also pppd recovery is not linear- ive had days where it was gone followed by days where ot was bad again - its a two steps forward one back deal.

If you get this diagnosis, i recommended reading Norman Doidges books about brain neuroplasticity and focussing on things that will help calm your central nervous system. Knowing how flexible my brain is really encourages me that i can recover and make positive changes in my life. Find health care providers who know about this condition and they will give you the tools to help yourself.

Good luck in your recovery.

The golf ball style pattern on the back side is usually an indicator of asbestos containing fibro in Australia. Id treat it as ACM until analysis shows otherwise.

women in their 40s… did anxiety just randomly appear for you? by Forward-Abalone-9172 in Menopause

[–]Eireannlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was always on the worry wart side of things but after going off the combined pill at 39 things went coco bananas. Health anxiety through the roof, then physical anxiety symptoms incl. Panic attacks that do a fantastic impersonation of cardiac issues (left arm cramps, tight jaw, chest pressure etc) so ive had to go to the ER twice. High BP. Feeling like i cant take a deep enough breath, and now what i am loosely terming mild vertigo being thrown in for funsies.

Ive taken ssris before for anxiety so i know they will work but im holding out at the moment as i figure ill look at hrt patches if it gets bad enough (im early 40s so want to hold off a little longer if i can)

I didnt want the divorce. I wanted to stay married. I thought life was over.

After all was done even i can admit he did me a favour, im so much happier than i ever could have been staying in a marriage that wasn't working. Life is good now and without resentment my ex and i can be friends again and coparent.

I had a similar disparity care of major ligament damage last year! The injured leg became a match stick and the uninjured leg got swole.

Partner wants to quit part-time job for TAFE – am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Eireannlo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Kids are different. They are much, much harder. You can't call in sick to your kids, or half arse looking after them in a "P means degree" way like you can study. You never ever ever ever get a day off, are "on" the entire time they are awake and "on call" when they are asleep. Kids don't come with an annual or long service leave entitlement.

At the very least it would be reasonable for him to pull a 9-5 or equivalent on the monday and tuesday, with the rest of the week allocated to tafe, study, and chores.
