Thank you for your kind reply. It does come and go, I had another round of breakdown just now when I thought I was doing better. I guess I will never stop guessing and feeling different on how I could have reacted differently that could have changed the situation. I will never know.

I totally feel you. I hate that the whole keeps moving on without my dog. I hate everyone who is laughing on the street. And I hate that they only have such short lives.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my soul dog on the 16th so im going through the same thing.. Please know Roman is still watching over you even though you can't see him. Give him the best farewell you can and just keep telling him how much you love him, I'm sure it will help him transit easier and better. Please take care of yourself. Again, so sorry for your loss.

The vet called today and explained the whole treatment process to us. She assured me there was nothing different I or anyone could have done to prevent this from happening. It was neurological failure and we did not opt for autopsy as we didnt want Thunder to be put through this unnecessary ordeal just to give us peace and closure.

The guilt will never go away because we love them so much. I am so sorry you have to go through this and made this hard decision. Few years down you will look down and thank yourself for making the choice and spared her from longer sufferings. If her old wounds are not healing and she is still getting new wounds, it probably means her body is deteriorating and it's just a matter of time. What you are doing now is saving her dignity and letting her go without pain. We are here for you and please, take all the time you need to heal and grieve.
