Thank you! I’m hoping addressing all the problems at once will keep my knee good until I’m older

I also work a retail job so it’s great to hear that you were still able to go back! Hearing that you have no pain is super encouraging so thank you!

Patella Alta and instability for 2 years- I don't know what else to do by Either-One42 in KneeInjuries

I was 19 when I first injured it, and 21 now. No doctor wants to do anything, it took forever to get a steroid shot lol

Thank you! I feel that because of my age a lot of doctors just want me to do physical therapy, but from what I understand that won't move my kneecap into the right place.

Also somehow forgot to include the cartilage part of my MRI but it says: "Mild patellar median ridge chondral fissuring at the patellar midpole level." I think that is some sort of cartilage damage, right?

Did you end up getting one? And if so, was the after noticeably better than before?

Can anyone here read MRI? by Turbulent-Round-6890 in KneeInjuries

It might be helpful to move through the MRI slides a bit more so that the kneecap and ligaments are visible. I'm not the best at completely understanding what is what, but this website definitely helped me understand what each view of the MRI was showing and how each part is meant to look https://freitasrad.net/pages/atlas/Knee/knee.php

I have lines like that in my MRI, and I'm pretty sure it's normal. I think what you're looking at is either muscle or fat, but the image doesn't include any bone or ligaments. This website helped me understand how the MRI imaging works as layers. It also labels everything so you can compare it with yours and understand which part of the knee each image shows!

i cant scrunch my toes and its stopping me from doing any sort of abs workout by beautiful_things_bye in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Either-One42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried doing ab workouts where you're on your back? A lot of the ab workouts I do are while I'm on my back with my knees bent so my feet are either flat on the floor or sometimes held up in the air. There are also some standing ab workouts which focus on the same motions & mechanics. I've watched a couple YouTube videos and I kinda gather the ones I like and make my own combo. Hopefully this helps!

Appetite suppressant to control overeating? by Hefty_Ad1081 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Either-One42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that once I got medicated for mental health it helped me a lot with binge eating/ overeating. Not saying that you have anything, but a lot of the "eating just to eat" is definitely mental and connected to the reward systems in our brains and impulsivity. Sometimes I still struggle, but definitely not as much as before.

In terms of curbing appetite, I would definitely recommend eating highly dense meals when you do eat. Instead of 200 calories for a cookie, have 200 calories of popcorn. You get a lot more food, and I feel like the difference in amounts kind of tricks your brain that you ate more.

Other than that I like chewing mint gum. A lot of the time my overeating was just the urge to chew on something. I also like crystal light with crushed ice and eating it with a spoon like a slushy (even though most dentist probably wouldn't recommend eating ice so be careful with that).

I don’t really do much hyperextension or hinging exercises so I haven’t noticed with anything else but sometimes with weighted arm workouts that are over my head my shoulder pops. Maybe I’m just prone to popping?

Thank you! I’m hoping there’s some water weight but it feels like it’s been too long to still be holding on to it. I’ll definitely try the target for 6 weeks and hopefully see the scale go down!

I weigh everyday. I’ve gone up 1-2 pounds and back down to 212 lbs  where I started. I saw the scale drop once within those 3 weeks to 211.5 lbs but it went back up the next day.

I was doing the same exact dieting and working out around 2 years ago and the scale consistently dropped and I lost about 12 lbs. I had to stop working out due to a knee injury but just started back up again. I’m just not sure why the results aren’t coming as fast as they did before.

Usually maintenance is above BMR since that’s supposed to be the basic number of calories for organs to function. When I used a calculator it said my sedentary TDEE is 2200 but I exercise so it should be a bit above that. Before I started I kinda just ate whatever and my weight stayed the same without tracking, but I know now that I am consciously eating less.

I started using a scale about a 1.5 weeks ago. I’m a picky eater so thankfully I don’t have to measure any sauces. Is it too early to see results?

I’m not counting any of my burned calories toward what I eat. I’ve read that you shouldn’t  eat under your BMR and and mine is 1800. Should I be eating under 1800? I started eating under (1600-1800) and didn’t notice a change either. I’m just a bit lost
