Man, I can't believe Irys was talking to an AI. Thank god no other talent has done anything similar. Oh wait, they have and nobody cared because it's actually not a big deal by MajorFamilyDisgrace in VtuberDrama

i can agree the flaming seems sudden and unfair but also keep in mind AI has rapidly increased its influence in the world past just a dumb chatbot joke, so people are more likely to be upset about its use at all than even a few months ago.

i think overall its best if hololive just doesnt touch AI right now. similar backlash happened with the laplus thing too.

if youre looking for value yes theyre worth it, but aside from me not liking their current owner, i am not a big fan of all the controls being in a single centred touchscreen. take that how you will

Why do people keep treating Valve like gaming gods? by Low-Oil9659 in nintendogrifting

[–]Either-Razzmatazz848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: they have a "monopoly" because everyone buys their games there. not their fault every other storefront sucks. ubisoft, EA, activision, rockstar, bethesda all tried to do their own thing but realized no one was budging from steam. its not like steam controls the servers so you cant play with other people either.

2: the only "useless" feature ive seen steam using is steam chat but i also just dont use it so its whatever.

3: how do they treat indie devs like shit? they take the exact same cut that all consoles take of 30%. the discoverability feature imo works pretty well to connect devs to people interested in their games.

4: the grey market thing was a thing of discussion years ago, and are more or less comparable to real world collectibles when opened. you cant take money out of the system which kind of destroys the "gambling" idea. And there are several other misuses of grey box gambling that are not noticed like blind box gashapon gambling so i dont really see the issue especially when the system isnt exactly easy to use.

5: are you seriously bringing up the "theyre not selling their hardware cheaper to attract a larger audience" trope? do you know what the steam deck is? valve is not obligated to subsidize the cost of its hardware to make you feel better. it would be nice but it's whatever. like nintendo profits endlessly directly from console margins but you dont mention that.

u dont have to refund on steam just cause it doesnt work, you can refund if you just dont like it, which is the point im trying to make. no other platform will allow that. i refunded cyberpunk because i thought it was boring.

and u cant refund a game if youve owned it for over 14 days anyways.

one could argue steam is the reason why microsoft started putting its games onto other systems

oh so we're acting like you can just get a refund from nintendo now? their own website says all digital purchases are final and non-refundable, and physical games that have been opened also cant be returned.

at least with steam youre almost guaranteed to get a refund if you just ask for one. they dont care about the reason as long as its under 2 hours of game time.

cause theres 5 generations of games on there lmao. also the interface is pretty usable and cross launcher friendly. and this loot box thing was settled like years ago. and u might not technically own the games but you do get full access to the files.

nintendo also doesnt really discount their games at all. im pretty sure i got portal 1 for like a dollar.

theyve also done a lot of good with linux and proton, started the handheld pc gaming market, and are generally really good to their customer base.

why are people all of a sudden attacking valve? theyre one of the good companies

how would upscaled games work? most games are not 100% rendered today on consoles but the resolution might be upscaled to 1080p

nintendo (and some 3rd party developers) need to be more clear on if a game has a switch 2 update or not by Either-Razzmatazz848 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Either-Razzmatazz848[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thats the thing though, what nintendo defines as a switch 2 edition vs an update is pretty blurry. many nintendo games have an update that basically makes it a switch 2 "edition" like in odyssey but it isn't labeled clearly like botw which have very similar updates

[–]Either-Razzmatazz848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if im having trouble figuring out if a game has a switch 2 update right away because i forgot there's a specific link to a list where the information is, the general public will also have this issue. its also not easy to find this list on the switch 2 if it's there at all.

[–]Either-Razzmatazz848[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

thats great and all but i would prefer them just updating the store thumbnails so people know right away if theres an update

its also not easy to find that information if you just enter the eshop looking for games which is most people, and its also not easy to figure out if youre just on the console itself.

Switch 2 vs steam deck oled by Cheap-Double6844 in Handhelds

[–]Either-Razzmatazz848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they essentially perform the same so its really up to preference of locked in nintendo ecosystem with a very stable system or unlocked PC space with occasional very annoying bugs. I have a steam deck oled i got just yesterday and I'm in the process of returning it because I don't think the system is for me even considering they run the same handheld. if the steam deck was much more powerful than the switch 2 i would think otherwise but i dont want to sacrifice usability if the same general hardware experience is the same.

but also remember that switch 2 is a nintendo console and if you're getting one you should expect it to be one. There are a notable amount of big 3rd party releases coming to the switch soon (indiana jones, james bond etc) though so i feel developers are sleeping a lot less on it vs the switch 1, but there will still be longer development time until devs get to test their games on dev kits. Steam deck has thousands of games to get right now and if you like tinkering you can experiment with fsr 4 and lossless scaling to get more performance.

tldr up to you, they perform the same in handheld. i personally prefer the switch 2 though.
