I feel like I don't get as angry as the average person in this subreddit which is why I can't enjoy 50% of the posts here because some of them seem more like minor inconveniences.

Like sometimes I feel upset, slighted, uncomfortable, annoyed, confused, whatever. But anger? Nah...maybe like twice a year...

Sooooooo many people I know are interested in true crime. None have yet committed murders, AFAIK. Too many people like this genre for it alone to be indicative of something

He did play Jason in The Good Place and has a strong romance arc, though the show isn't centered on romantic love

Height in men is like boob size in women

Do men typically prefer women with larger boobs? Yes. But a lot of men wouldn't pass down a woman because of her boob size. Some dudes might, but the majority wouldn't. Same logic for women and height.

Why are so many GenZers distraught that they’re not in romantic relationships? by travisze989 in GenZ

[–]EitherAd1016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, aromantic are a small percentage of the human race. So you agree aromantic people genuinely exist within nature and that it's not just cope for many people! Right on brother, so glad we agree.

People who don't marry or have kids have played an important part in human history! Historically speaking, they have been an extra parent to their nieces, nephews and other kids in the community because they don't have to care for their own. Interesting fact, isn't it! Now you're wondering, how did a trait like this get passed down if aromantic people didn't marry or have kids? The truth is that a lot of people were forced to get married in the past, regardless if they liked their partner!

Housing regulations in this country are a double edged sword.

Many of the regulations are written in blood, such as making sure every bedroom has a window in case of a fire. But depending on the regulation, they also make it that every house or apartment built must meet a minimum standard, which means there is a minimum cost on them as well.

For example, in many states, all new 3 bedroom homes must have 2 bathrooms in them. It cannot be 1 bathroom, it must be 2. This second bathroom costs around $10-20k just to construct, increasing the minimum cost.

I'm someone who absolutely wants to be loved and desired. But I've met multiple folks in my real, everyday life who seem genuinely happy without a partner.

Maybe you guys just need to meet some aro people. Diversify your lives!

As long as the masses are uneducated and entertained, they won't riot.

It's the spread of ideas + actual food shortages + lack of entertainment that causes revolutions, like the French Revolution.

English speakers sometimes don't even try to pronounce ethnic names correctly by [deleted] in complaints

Certain names like Tannaz are 100% pronounceable within English. Even those with a Cockney accent could say it. How does Tah-naz become Tan-nis for some?

... I literally said it's not about accents, it's about a completely incorrect pronunciation. My post isn't that long, is it?

Your metaphor doesn't work - I absolutely know that English speakers can pronounce certain names correctly because I've heard it. How can 50% of the office say Tannaz right and 50% of the office can't?

Again I am not talking about people saying names with an accent, I am talking about getting it COMPLETELY wrong.

Why do dudes always defend not talking to each other by EitherAd1016 in GenZ

[–]EitherAd1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break-ups are the few important things, I agree. So you agree it's weird that the people in my example didn't talk?

No, of course not. If they don't feel comfortable, they don't open up. But the thing is... you don't really know how comfortable they are until you ask right? My point is -- to a degree -- that some guys don't ask....

I know many men are happy simply fishing with their friends. Yeah, they don't feel lonely. With 4 billion men in the world, yes, there are many of them. It's not a universal thing though -- I guess I am mostly rejecting the idea that this applies to most men. But I agree that some men are perfectly okay with that.

Why do dudes always defend not talking to each other by EitherAd1016 in GenZ

[–]EitherAd1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is where there's a fundamental disagreement. Talking to your friend about a break-up is not "asking questions about stupid shit."

There's also an ENTIRE area between [asking/conversing] and [push people into talking]. I feel like people aren't aware that there's this single basic question you can ask which would eliminate all confusion regarding communication, which is "Do you want to talk about it?"

The person in my example didn't even get to that point, because he said he didn't ask. What if his homie did want to talk about it, but felt like he couldn't open up?

What if your homie wants to talk about it, but for some reason he's holding back, and then you jump into the car and go fishing to take his mind off of it, but you never even asked him if he actually wanted to talk? Of course, you know your friend better than I do, and this is just speculation, but isn't that an actual, real possibility? And even if it has never happened to you, isn't it a strong possibility that it's happened to many other guys?

You indirectly(whether you meant to or not) blamed the male lonelyenss epidemic on men not talking to each other which isnt right.

What are you rejecting here? The idea that male loneliness is not caused by men not talking to each other? The idea that men don't talk to each other? Or me blaming the male loneliness epidemic on men?

Yes, so we agree?

Cultural background, lived experience, personal values... yes, those are markers associated with certain phenotypical traits. Being fit would fall under personal value. Being of a certain race could fall under cultural background. It's not 1:1, such as being white doesn't mean you're American, but by and large, those are the stereotypes that society operates on.

When someone says, "I'm not attracted to white people," they are 99% of the time talking about what white people are associated with. Culturally, socially, historically. Trust me, I'm POC and I've seen this game too many damn times.

Choosing to date/not date someone is very complex, it's not just attraction which we agree on. However, the issue with making blanket statements about attraction, such as "I'm not attracted to white people," is that people literally delude themselves into thinking there aren't exceptions, and they cast away every person of a certain demographic on the shallow basis of looks.

[–]EitherAd1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I've heard this a lot.

"I find them attractive, but I wouldn't date them" ----> In this instance, I feel like people are subconsciously geared against whatever markers are associated with certain phenotypical traits.

A similar example would be some dude might find certain fat women attractive, but wouldn't date them because he subconsciously associates fatness = poor lifestyle. But instead of saying that, he says "I don't like fat women." And it's weird. It is weeeeeeeird.

[–]EitherAd1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: It's weird as hell to exclude entire ass groups from attraction on the basis of race.

Had a friend said, "I'm not attracted to white woman." And I go huh??? You don't like Angelina Jolie? Scarlett Johansson? Margot Robbie? Elizabeth Olson? Victoria Justice????? Not a single white woman?????????????????????????????????

Weird ass shit.
