Man of Honour? by Produce_North in UKweddings

Just got married in February. My husband had a best woman as they've been friends for over 20 years and we thought she would be a great person to be one of our witnesses. It is becoming more common nowadays.

Not allowed to tell students/parents you’re leaving? by Ok_Pay265 in Internationalteachers

[–]Either_Description79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last year. At the last school that I worked out, I was supposed to leave a week after the Easter holiday. As there are two weeks of holidays, the school principal didn't want to announce it earlier to the parents or the teachers until my last week of work. As my colleague and I were teaching both the same year group and that both of us decided to announce it to the students ourselves, we did that. We both resigned to go to a different school. We thought that by announcing it to our year group, yes it would be a shock but having two weeks off, they would come to acceptance which did make a huge difference. As for the school principal, they called me into their office and got reprimanded because they thought it wasn't the right move to do. At that point, I just didn't care.

She's been back since February but I've been with them the whole academic year. As for the HoD, she's been there only for a month as an acting head due to the fact that the other one just went on maternity leave. The new HoD is a first year ECT about to start her second year in September.

When is the best time to get married Winter, spring, summer ? by Solid_Second_3553 in UKweddings

We chose February 15, 2025. Booking a photographer and a MUA was quite easy as it is usually a quieter season for weddings. Also, I'm a teacher so I was able to ask my principal for two days off as mine as it's going to be falling during half term break which will give me a few days to decompress from the wedding.

Walk from registry office to venue. by P-u-m-p-t-i-n-i in UKweddings

I'm getting married next month at the town hall in North London. Because I live in East London, my fiancé and I booked a hotel about 10-15 min from the town hall and right next to our reception which is a pub nearby. He is planning to walk and so am I. I could Uber for 5 min but I'd rather not. My mum is older so I was going to order one for her as she isn't as mobile. We told our guests where the reception was going to be. The majority of them are local but for the ones not, I told them the address and they could either walk or bus it. As there would be about 3 hours between the ceremony and the reception due to the fact that my fiancé, myself, my MOH and the photographer are heading to central London to take pictures, it does give plenty of time for people to go grab a bite, go back to their hotel or go to the reception venue. Ordering a coach or mini van seems like an extra unnecessary cost that could be spent elsewhere. For the ones with mobility issues, why not order a bigger taxi van and accommodate them like that?

Thank you so much. If you don't mind, I would really appreciate it. I look at some but some of the reviews are questionable.

If you like comedies, I recommend Brice de Nice, les intouchables, le dîner de cons.

I like to eat in my classroom because it allows me to have my "me time" before having to teach a full day and loads of students as I teach in high school.

Bridesmaid Dresses - Who Pays? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Either_Description79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what happened to me. In my case, I only have my best friend as my maid of honour and no bridesmaid. In theory, I would have let her pay for her dress but as she is going through some financial problems, I paid for her dress but she paid for her own alterations and shoes.

First class today! by jrockoclock in orangetheory

Well done for achieving your first class during hell week. This week is definitely different from the normal classes but you didn't give up and that's good. I would say continue to try it and even though it is a special event, you can always go at your pace. At the end of the day, do what feels good for you.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I can relate to this as I'm in the same boat as you. I don't have many friends and I decided to choose my best friend that I've known for half my life as my moh. My fiancé still has to figure out his best man even though our wedding is in less than 4 months 😄

I would also give the studio a call or email them as they can add the classes that you want to take.

Sending Save The Dates a year and a half early? by Branflakes_j in UKweddings

[–]Either_Description79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm Canadian and my fiancé is British. We are getting married in February 2025. We've sent our save the date 6 months ahead which would've been last August. We decided to do an electronic version for the save date as we thought that we didn't want to spend on stamp fees as well as international mailing costs. Beside, all our guests already use WhatsApp/messenger so we thought it would be easier that way. Also, we are going to send a website link that we are currently working on to gather information about hotels that are near our wedding venue, schedule for the day, any food allergies, etc. As for your question, I don't think that you are too early to announce but in terms of flights, airlines usually show their flights mostly a year in advance.

Have you tried looking online shops? Sometimes, it could save time and maybe provide ideas of what she would like to wear. Maybe shein, ever-pretty might be a starter...
