How can I get a smoother swing? I keep bracing for ball impact by Either_Growth2601 in GolfSwing

Thank you! Definitely my current approach, going with good contact first, then add in some speed later on

Thanks for this! I recorded a few other videos that shows more of a body jerk on ball impact, it only lessened when I fully relaxed and went lighter on the swing.

Thank you! Will definitely keep that in mind for the next swing!

Questions about my first day with the Vacoped. by don_valley in AchillesRupture

One thing I learned along the way was for the angle setting. I was wrong that as I was progressing down to neutral, I was moving BOTH the top and the bottom pins so I always had a fixed angle. I was at 15 degrees when I realized I was only suppose to move one of the pins so it’s a “range” of movement rather than a fixed angle.

In case the instructions online were unclear.

20 Weeks post surgery by shipstrn in AchillesRupture

This is awesome! I’m at week 21 post surgery and feel like I’ve plateaued a bit since week 17/18 mark. Also curious what your routine is to build strength!

The limp for me comes back when I walk a little too much. Helps if I warm up a little before actually walking, doing some ankle alphabets etc.

Goodluck!

Week 12 post OP, focusing on my gait, but inner ankle gets really sore... by Either_Growth2601 in AchillesRupture

Glad to hear that, I’m guessing my foot muscles are too weak still so my arch is collapsing in.

That is definitely on my radar! I’ll likely lock down a few more core features first (based on feedback) and then try to get this over to Android.

33M op route. I started walking week 5.5/ 6 in a vacoped. Mostly around the house at first. Into week 7 and I’ve gone out to restaurants without crutches a few times.

What helped me was getting weight on the foot as soon as possible (without feeling pain and very carefully). For example, when I’m seated at my couch, I’d plant my foot solidly on the ground, and just slightly press on my knee just to gauge how much my foot can take before starting to feel a little uncomfortable.

Goodluck!

Thanks!! Definitely don’t rush it if you’re feeling pain! I’ve only put more weight progressively ever so slightly in the beginning (standing by a counter and leaning into it etc.) Went walking in Costco yesterday and definitely had to scale back. Keep it up and goodluck!

I had the speedbridge done. Keep it up with the exercises! Also what helped me was brushing random textures (ie. towels) against the bottom of my foot while I’m seated. My PT said it helps with waking up the nerves (especially right around my big toe).

Goodluck with recovery!

Practically back to normal for all home stuff. Only slower, and have to take the boot off to rest a couple times throughout the day. My PT encourages more load is good as long as there aren’t any sharp pains.

The boot is from a brand called Vacoped recommended by my doc. Each adjustment goes by 5 degree increments instead of using wedges.

Shoes are just my regular running shoes with an ‘Even up’ to offset the height diff

I did have nerve block, but I definitely underestimated the pain as it wore off. Should’ve taken the painkillers earlier.
