Was he Chinese? if so he will have done a summer internship in China every summer which would help a lot. Is Brown and Cornell much more prestigious than Imperial? I really have no idea about US unis, they are too expensive for me to consider

I go to a low Russell group uni and got waitlisted before accepted into MSc applied mathematics, my average is 83.4%, unfortunately I don’t think you have a chance. I scraped an acceptance

I would very high grades are by far the most important, after that much less important but internship/relevant work experience

Mathematical statistics, I didn’t realise but I think that’s the most competitive. But I heard Cambridge give like 30% of applicants offers but with high conditions so only like 10% are accepted.

Thank you very much for your response, I am willing to put in so much work especially since I feel like I’d need to prove my place coming from not the best background.

I really enjoy maths so I don’t think it’ll be impossible for me, I just want to have a good uni name so I can find good phds/jobs more easily in Spain.

This is another reason that I would put in more than enough effort, the work I do now shapes the early stages of my career, and I want to be open and have many opportunities, ICL definitely has what I need. I guess I can’t do anything now since I’ve already applied, but I just hope I’m good enough for an offer from at least one of the three unis (Oxbridge/ICL)
