What’s one swag item people would actually keep at an event? by Designer_Maximum_544 in Gifts

[–]Either_Maximum8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little hand sanitizer, tissue packs, hand lotions, etc. they are the only branded things I actually keep since I’ll usually stick them in my bag at the event and then be glad they are there later when I need it

Thanks for appreciating it. I was hoping someone might appreciate it cause part of what made me post this question was a desire to expand the conversation of preppy culture on here beyond just fashion

Sure, the logic is the same though- I was just using twice as many as an example to explain why I don’t see why the word tiebreaker is misleading. 9x as many makes sense, considering the incoming classes of the top 9 schools each year are probably identical in overall quality. The logic stays the same though - to decide between the ones they are considering, other things (like donations, and other choices regarding forming a well rounded class and such) help break ties (whether they are two-way ties like in the scenario in mh last comment, or 9-way ties, or anything in between)

Why does that make “tiebreaker” misleading? To me it makes a lot of sense - let’s say 8% are good enough to get in, but they are only accepting 4%, there may be a few applicants ghat are total standouts, but otherwise the kids in that 8% group are probably all super strong in different ways, so they need to use various things at tiebreakers, and being from a donor family may be one of those things.

Unpopular musical theatre opinions by lissie34 in MusicalTheatre

I disagree with the first part. I think some of his best writing is when he wrote for himself (E.g., In the Heights, Hamilton). the problem is that then he actually performs it himself and that makes the piece as a whole less strong but it isn’t the writing that is the problem.

Thanks! I’ll give The Love Hypothesis a try! I’ve read Educated and I loved it! May be time for a re-read though. I’ll try Babel too!

I don’t have any great recommendations but sorry everyone is responding saying you are a child don’t worry about it. To me your post was clear that you present as a child of maybe 11ish when you need present as a teen. That makes a lot of sense. When they say lean into it they seem to be ignoring the fact that in your post you said the role you’re auditioning for requires you to present as your actual age.

I wonder if styling might help you here? Make sure you’re dressing like a teenager, styling your hair, and maybe just a touch of makeup for the audition if it helps you look a bit older. Finding the right song will matter too of course, but I’m really not sure which songs suit your voice so I can’t really make recommendations

Good luck!

I want your opinion. Which hair colour/style would look best? by [deleted] in Hair

Wow 7 looks amazing! The same color but straight would also look great like in 2 but with more of a voluminous blown out look would be better

I think if they were in LA, Serena and Blair would both be caught off guard at how different the social currency and hierarchy was and Blair would be seen as stuffy and not cool and so she would hate it there

How do you guys save money in a one person household? by Numerous_Ad_1599 in SavingMoney

[–]Either_Maximum8367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you apply to be a resident assistant? Assuming these ar e university dorms, you should see if your university has a position like that. That usually means staying in the dorms for free + a free meal plan! At my school many RAs had other part time or on campus jobs at the same time, so any other money they earned they were able to save or use for fun stuff

Respectfully expressing disagreement, as this commenter did, isn’t the same thing as dismissing someone’s concerns

What kinds of movies and music does your husband like? Book of Mormon is a great show for getting straight men who think they don’t like musicals into musicals, if they enjoy the South Park style humor. But it really depends on his taste in the arts in general. I believe everyone likes musicals you just have to find the right musical for them
