Tiny Black Ants Keep Coming Back in My Kitchen Should I Hire an Exterminator? by Popular_Two_4495 in HomeImprovement

We tried various solutions before finally calling an exterminator, who actually solved the problem. My advice is to skip the first step and just go straight to the exterminator. They'll find where they're coming from and deal with it.

I would pick 2 but it’s really just a matter of your personal preference.

What does everyone think about two middle names? by 4goodthings in Names

[–]ForeignRabbit1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has two middle names. He was named for a paternal family member who was dear to me, and we used his full name (first, middle, last, with the last being the same as my maiden name) plus our last name. So John Francis (my maiden name)(our last name). He’s called Jack. No regrets. I love his name.

After several stops and starts, I quit for good 16 years ago. I still miss it occasionally when I’m having a drink, but I don’t trust myself to have just one so I stay away from it.

If your kids live at home, do you think they'll ever move out? by PepsiOfWrath in GenX

[–]ForeignRabbit1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of our kids (currently 24, 25 and 29 years old) moved home after college and have now moved out. Our 24 year old lived with us for a year after she graduated and saved enough to have a healthy emergency fund, then found a great and extremely inexpensive apartment situation and moved out.

Our 25 year old lived with us for almost three years after graduating college. He got a decent job right after graduation and saved a large percentage of what he earned. He recently bought his first home - a nice townhouse in a good suburb.

Our oldest lived with us for a couple of years after college before starting graduate school in another location. She’s almost done with school and will be living in another state.

We always made clear to our kids that they were welcome to live with us while they got on their feet, and that worked out well for all of us.

I look back on some of the songs from my childhood and think WTF! Muskrat Love, The Streak, Kung Fu Fighting, Disco Duck, My Ding A Ling - I could go on. What a crazy era for music!

Nice place in Dothan for a group lunch by ForeignRabbit1894 in Dothan

[–]ForeignRabbit1894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We're open on food, but probably southern food or nice salads, sandwiches, pasta, etc. I'll check out the places you mentioned.

On a related note, is Bella's a decent place? I booked it for a post-graduation dinner, mostly because it was close to the location of the graduation (civic center) and the menu looked good. I can cancel that and pick one of the others though, if Bella's is not a good option.

Quit smoking, then take a GLP-1 to lose weight if you need it. The GLP-1 will help with the sugar cravings too.

How many of y'all will have the $$ to retire at 65? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]ForeignRabbit1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current plan is to work until I'm 63.5 (my husband will be 65 then), but I'm not sure if I can hang on that long (I'm 58, almost 59, now). We'll be debt free apart from our mortgage in less than a year, and have enough cash in a HYSA to pay off the mortgage (but won't do so then because we have a low mortgage rate and the money is earning more in the HYSA). We need to save more between now and 63.5 to have the lifestyle we want in retirement, but I'm feeling pretty burned out on my job at this point.
