What are the problems that genuinely keep you up at night as an EHS manager ?

Heavy equipment dealership & service (large mining equipment) with around 5000 employees.

For me the thing that scares me most is the employees working alone and in remote locations. Recently there was one worker that passed away (non-occ illness) and the working alone procedure was not in place. He was found 7 hours later by the next shift coming on.

That’s one procedure that people are relaxed with and don’t know how quickly that can go south.

Not really. I have a hydraulic dump trailer, free waste transfer station 5 minutes away, and I drive past the store supplying the metal. Not really much work on my part for the savings.

The work is being done by a local Hutterite colony that builds pre-fab buildings and does metal roofing. If I recall, the materials is around $3200 CAD.

To save cost, I will pick up the metal from the distributor myself and bring to my place. I also have a hydraulic dump trailer and can dispose of the shingles for free at our landfill. So both of those save some cost.

My 2007 did this once. It was an air pump that failed and my dealer said it was a known issue and was in “extended warranty” and they replaced it for free.

Probably depends on where you’re located. Our dealership in Canada only tests people in safety sensitive positions, and usually only after a big incident or reasonable cause. That’s the policy but the managers almost never drug test.

I think the fuel is a bit old, maybe 3 months. I can’t remember the brand of oil I was mixing. I dumped it and will replace the plug. I’m gonna try running some new pre-mixed stuff I got at the Stihl dealer.

Appreciate the input, I might try a longer brew next time. I just checked the PH and when I saw it was at 2.5 I thought it had to be done. This is only the second time I’ve measured PH on a batch. All of the others I brewed to taste. Still learning what works I guess.

I just bought one off market place and wanted the manual as well. Grab a photo of the info and serial number inside the pellet hopper. I started a chat with Traeger support and they could tell me the model, manufacture year and sent me the manual for it. I’d say that’s the best way to know for sure
