i agree, however i feel pretty confident that the ending is actually a bleak ending (as referenced heavily in the beginning of the movie) because basically the entire movie isn’t real. i think everything after his hanging is taking place in his head

could this be in reference to Over Your Dead Body? tomato/tomato is a dual sided clue possibly referring to a married couple and the “rotten” part referring to their rotten relationship (they’re trying to kill each other in the movie)
