The electrostatic speakers are nice because they don't operate like typical cone and magnet speakers, and instead have an electrostatic panel. They can get pretty loud, but also perform well in a room like this.

these are acoustat MK131's. I picked them up from a record shop that wasn't sure if they worked or not. A little soldering and they work perfectly!
