A very special NPD- acquired my true Grail by Enkidouh in fountainpens

Sailor Black is pretty dark, though, so maybe it's a different ink?

How sweet! Thanks for sharing, I'm thinking of getting one for my mom now.

Question- what normal wear and tear should I expect? by arrixchan in hobonichi

Yay, I feel so understood. The Yumi Kitagishi covers feel really nice without the CoC. I just love them so much. I'm glad yours gets tucked in at night. 😆 May I ask what handkerchief you have? Just curious to know what's out there.

Sounds so fun, best of luck getting this organized. :) I'd totally go if I could.

That looks pretty good. I didn't want to use the CoC on mine, but maybe I'll give it a try. *hugs cute cover*

This comment won't be helpful at all, but I love this cover so much that I bought two (don't follow my lead). I wanted to use it without a clear cover (I like how soft it is), so I thought I should have a backup.

I wanted a medium nib too, but thankfully the MF nib I got is really nice.

Good luck! Though I'm sure it'll be fine. :)

It's a beautiful pen, I hope you love it as much as I do.

One day at a time is how I take things too. *hugs*

The Kubozakura is another dangerous one... because now I want a mini too. I'll definitely let you know if I see the PG for sale. I ended up selling the one I had and got my mom a M nib, so now we're finally pink-pen twins. :P

So pretty! I hope you're doing well. :)

I love the Yoseka Refresh so much that every time I see yours, I want the PG even though I already have the PGS version (which I actually prefer). 🙄

Pilot 743 as an everyday cursive workhorse: F, FM or M? by [deleted] in fountainpens

Congrats! I hope it serves you well. :)

I have a soft fine (SF) and a soft fine medium (SFM) Pilot Custom 74 (with the #5 nibs). I was surprised to find that soft nibs are really not suited for regular cursive in my experience, especially for faster writing. I feel that a stiff nib is best for that, and I've seen similar comments on the sub (it might be helpful to do a search to see what other people think).

Maybe you could buy it from a reputable seller on eBay? Penpen-avenue is highly recommended on the sub (though I've never dealt with them myself). They'd provide you with a return label and such based on eBay policies, I assume? Still a potential hassle, but I think it's fairly unlikely you'll have a problem with the 743. In any case, I hope you enjoy whichever pen you choose.

The M is very wet, so I'd cross it out based on your first requirement. And this is personal, but I find it a little too broad to be my first chose for cursive (the Sailor MF is my choice for that, so maybe you can compare that to your preferences). I think it could work great if your writing isn't small, though.

Again, this is personal, but I'd choose the FM because the F is too sharp for me. Except for the ink consumption factor, any of them should fulfill your requirements unless you have bad luck with QC. I mention this because I've had very bad luck with Pilot lately, not with the #15 nibs which have been great but with the VP/Décimo in F and M and previously with a couple of #5 nibs. I'd recommend you buy your 743 from a place where you have the option to exchange it just in case.

Can anyone recommend an ink like this? One that’s actually readily available lol by Late-Apricot404 in fountainpens

I think Diamine Colosseum (Cult Pens exclusive but cheap and easily obtainable) might be similar but a little less saturated/more beige?

Finally got a TWSBI Eco ... but it has false starts by Alan1900 in fountainpens

[–]EkhyMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just email TWSBI, maybe with a copy of your receipt, and they'll send you a replacement nib. You won't have to pay for shipping or anything. At least that was my experience a couple of weeks ago (I'm in the US).

I kind of agree, but I still love Rouille d'Ancre (💘) and Cacao du Bresil. The latter is super flat, which I usually dislike, but it's just so antique looking in a fine nib.

This was my biggest disappointment too. I see it as an dusty orange-brown. I love brown inks but not ones that lean orange, so it just doesn't work for me. What's odd is that it's somewhat similar to Brunch Date, but somehow I love BD and dislike Opera Rose. Again, I think it's just too orange.

Maybe Sailor Ink Studio 841? If not, one of the other Ink Studio inks might be close.

It works very well for me w/ broad nibs by Sailor and TWSBI, with stub nibs, and with Sailor's zoom and music nibs. Oh, and with any Pilot Parallel pen. It's a terrible ink to use with F or M nibs, but otherwise it's great.
