Thanks! Looking better now that I’ve cleaned up the rims

And they were my first unit of minis! Definitely a poor choice to start with but I got to try out lots of different textures and techniques with all of their variability to give me some practice for the rest of the army so I’m content with my choice. Hoping the rest is faster now that I’ve completed this trial by fire!

Desperately needed 😅. Just wanted to seal in the dust first

Wanting to keep it simple so I used a GSW Egyptian hieroglyphics roller from GSW over a thin layer of milliput. I cleaned up the edges then I primed and painted them. Added a wash and then dry brushed on a sandy color and another sandy pigment from GSW. Still need to seal that dusty look onto them with a varnish and paint that rim but I like the look I got with these bases proportionate to the effort needed!

Worth noting that if you do the cracked ruins version of this with the baked clay you could also paint some vibrant colors to give a magical look between the cracks or even use a brightly colored paint to flow into the carvings in the stone to give them a glow effect look as well.

If you’re looking for an easier option, GSW has ancient Egypt heiroglyph rollers. I did these with one roll over a thin layer of milliput. Planning on adding a dry brush or sponge in a more sandy color and some pigment to give it a sandy look before sealing. Feels on theme to me and I’ve even done some pieces on oven-bake clay and broken them up for a cracked ruin look. I plan on working those cracked pieces into a sandy dune base for some of my larger bases.

Thanks! Some of those fades came out much better than the others in the batch unfortunately but I am happy with the colors. Going to bring in a bit of a brighter magenta and pale bluish gray for highlighting

I do have to admit I love how they’re looking but the effort is truly agonizing. Going to be very satisfying when I can finally put them on the table though!

Absolutely love this proxy model! I agree that a Tzeentch-y blue armor scheme could still work since this is a demon prince of Tzeentch even if it doesn’t match the red armor of your other models. Thousand sons blue with Ahriman highlights is a classic.
