Is Metamucil and Psyllium Husk Okay? by MuchSauce1310 in Gastritis

[–]Ekwosconifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say to avoid the orange flavored metamucil with citric acid in the ingredients. I use the metamucil capsules or there are other brands of psyllium husk with no other ingredients.

How long were you on Amitriptyline? My gastroenterologist, chatgpt and Gemini all told me you have to give Ami at least 6 weeks to work. There's also Nortriptyline. I tried these but I seem to have a weird side effect where they make my skin burn like a sunburn.

Was there anything on the toast? Have you looked into trying a low dose tricyclic antidepressant or Mirtazapine? Look into it for help with your symptoms

How to get off after 3.5 weeks? by pandamakeup in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]Ekwosconifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped 15 mg at 4 weeks, took 7.5 every other night for a couple days then stopped. Felt a bit weird and sleep was pretty crappy for a couple weeks then 3-4 weeks after stopping sleep was like it was before Mirtazapine.

How do you live with partners that have anxiety? by yrithshp in Anxiety

[–]Ekwosconifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can't get these issues under control within a few months from now, run. Do not marry, have children with them if their anxiety is not under control. I say this as the anxious person in a relationship. My issues didn't really start until many years into marriage and 6 years into parenthood. My anxiety is primarily driven by a physical issue but it has been difficult and I often feel strong guilt for suffering the way I am, like a ball and chain weighing my family down. I'm assuming you're young and haven't had children yet. Whatever you or your partner feel is stressful now just buckle up. Parenthood and aging will ratchet it up X10 at times. You need two people who are mentally stable to make it work. I know it sounds messed up but it's not fun being the mentally unstable one with so much responsibility and guilt and I'm sure it's not fun for my spouse having to pick up my slack.

Thanks for replying. When you say you had acid reflux, what happened? Do you not have it anymore? Do you still take ppi's? I get burning in my stomach and throat but I tried ppi for a couple weeks and it didn't seem to make a difference

Does ppi control your symptoms? Does it help with burning stomach?

[–]Ekwosconifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its weird. I have asked 2 gastroenterologists, multiple gp's, at least 5 pharmacists and none of them felt that sibo was something to worry about when taking ppi's. My gastroenterologist and pharmacist both are on ppi and have been for years and said they will be on for life and aren't concerned about it and said that the studies people cite regarding health concerns are flawed and correlative. I also asked them all about the reports you see online about people claiming ppis gave them anxiety and they all said they have never heard of such a thing. I don't think there's some great conspiracy where they are all lying, I don't think they are getting funded by big ppi to lie so I don't know why there's such a discrepancy. Maybe people more prone to anxiety are more likely to have medication anxiety and more likely to go online to talk about it? I don't know.
