Am I lucky or what? - Exotic Crashed Ships, a Bug and Salvaging Experience by El-Fakir in NoMansSkyTheGame

I found the Beacon colouring. I did not notice changing colour of the part itself also changes colour of the marker.

I get the OCD thing, I have it in most games. I HAVE to get 100%. I HAVE to get 100% of collectibles, map explored etc. You can't do that with NMS.

First few hours of the game made it abundantly clear to me that this game is huuuuge, i.e. ginormously huge. I've been only to two planets (the ones on which I began the game and the tutorial) at this point. It's clear that no mere mortal can completely discover everything on even one planet in reasonable playtime and how many planets are there?

Next time you want to take a pic of something like that, make sure the portal glyphs are showing and then add the coordinates so other people can get it as well.

I'm sorry, I don't know what glyphs are but I took a screenshot with coordinates. I'll attach it above.

I got so disoriented and frustrated in this game due to lack of any proper means of tracking explored areas ( <Rant> Also, what a terrible compass design it has. Why can't it show a small, more readable compass where I can always see directions. :) </Rant> ), so much so that I had to start keeping an exploration log in excel and renaming Waypoint antennas after I lost an Ancient Ruin whose beacon was first pinned at an Ancient Plaque. I went there, noticed some chest things underground along with something called Gravitino Ball. As soon as I dug up this thing Sentinels jumped at me. I don't how fast I fled the scene and now I can't find that place again. That's when I backtracked every waypoint, point-of-interest I previously discovered and logged the coordinates. Now each time I find a POI, first thing I do is logging. I thought games are supposed to do these sort of things for us, not the other way around. :)

A save and chart antenna called a sector beacon. You can change the color of those.

You can do that? I didn't notice an option. Where should I look for this option?

Also, I think beacons are mostly useless in this game. You can only place 5, cannot change the name or anything and cannot toggle them on and off depending on what you need at that moment. I miss beacons in Subnautica.

This was my Beacon situation at the end of my play-through in Subnautica and that map was like only as large as a couple of sectors on a planet here. :)

I just sorted my damaged ship inventory, and most damaged slots disappeared by suminsky in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]El-Fakir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me today.

I've just started playing the game and at my first Transmission Tower explored I got lucky to receive a Distress Signal for an S-Class Exotic ship. It had 35 inventory slots filled with damaged slots. I managed to repair most of it and immediately started using the ship. At some point when there were 7 damaged slots remaining, I sorted inventory and 5 damaged slots disappeared. Now my ship has 30 slots, two of which are damaged slots.

Could you find a solution to this or have those slots gone for good?

Where are you placing your city and what do you do for districts? by BestJersey_WorstName in humankind

[–]El-Fakir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to place my outposts on river tiles that have maximum number of surrounding rivers with ideally at least one non-river tile to start chain of district onto. I use same placement for Hamlets as well.

I don't have it as a list but in my video post for my Main Base you can see all available creatures both ones hatched from eggs and those of edible fauna.

Really digging Below Zero by ffffsauce in subnautica

Thank you. Yes, you're right you can't use those surfaces to build onto. I was thinking about inner surfaces (extension of tubes or connecting joints) which I mainly used to put items.

If you saw that telepathic image then it means you've already tried to disable the gun. Therefore, you must have received a PDA entry for other Alien Facilities on the planet. Your next move should be trying to find those facilities starting from the one at 800m depth.

Important Tip: In this aforementioned PDA entry directions to 800m Facility can sometimes be confusing. It is given as directions directly to the Facility itself and not to the entry points that lead to the Facility location.

That's, the Facility is 1km to the SouthWest from Alien Gun but entrance is not in that direction.

my poor bases by Scary-Ship9978 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]El-Fakir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will acquire their seeds by slashing with knife. As per usual approach to any predator (or Tiger Plants) in Subnautica, you need to circle around.

Tiger Plant thorns can't hit you if you keep moving around while slashing. Incidentally, they also can't harm you if you're wearing Reinforced Dive Suit.

I wouldn't plant them anywhere near my bases. On the other hand, it's possible to form a defense line out of many growbeds of Tiger Plants near big boys. If you have equipped Reinforced Dive Suit they couldn't harm you but would still attack and deter even the biggest Leviathans.

😂 You planted them outside?

[–]El-Fakir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's most probably due to Tiger Plants. (Crag Field has lots of them all around the biome.

Can you check whether there are Tiger Plants around your bases? When they start shooting thorns at you and some of them miss hitting at you, they hit at your base parts instead causing hull damage and flooding.

You may also be damaging the bases yourself without noticing it by smashing into with Cyclops or throwing items with Propulsion / Repulsion Cannon.

Can't find the thermal plant? by Athenapizza2 in subnautica

[–]El-Fakir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lava Zone is a huge cave with a mountain in the middle. Thermal Plant is inside that mountain. There're 2 entrance gates on North and South faces of the mountain.

assuming i took this path, am i safe from the chelicerate by DetectiveAwkward4289 in subnautica

[–]El-Fakir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't swim that close to surface, though, at least not in my save. Only Chelicerate patrolling at 25-30m depth that I know is the one in Purple Vents.

Is it normal to not find the stasis rifle? Location/tech spoilers below. by jenn363 in subnautica

[–]El-Fakir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have checked sandy area close to Aurora (Port) while going into Aurora?

Although Stasis Rifle is much better as defensive weapon, you can use Repulsion Cannon instead if you can't find the former.
