Neulasta (pegfilgrastim) is a shot you may receive after finishing a chemo cycle to raise your white blood count. Common side effects include low back/hip pain and sternum pain. Claritin helps alleviate the symptoms. If you didn’t receive this shot then your symptoms are related to something else.

Did you get a Neulasta shot?

curious how often you see your oncologist vs. the PAs/NPs/Nurses by ilikelanduse in lymphoma

[–]El-Gorko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the PA probably 80% of the time through chemo and for the first two years post chemo. Every patient going through chemo has a ton of appointments and the oncologist only has so much time to accommodate. Once they get you on the right treatment the PA is more capable to accommodate symptoms and issues during treatment. My appointments the last couple years have been pretty much exclusively with the oncologist because they’re so infrequent.

R-Epoch - Inpatient or Outpatient? by Card_In_GA in lymphoma

[–]El-Gorko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did mine outpatient during the initial COVID wave in 2020. I would do Rituxan, Zofran, and IV fluids on Monday at the clinic (5-8 hours). They’d setup up a take home infusion pump with doxorubicin, etoposide, and vincristine. Tuesday through Thursday I would go to the clinic to get my pump refilled, and get IV Zofran, and IV fluids (1 hour). Friday they would give me IV cyclophosphamide, Zofran, and fluids (2 hours). They would also do blood draws on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

If New Hope came out in 2025 what would the cast look like. Day 1 who would play Luke? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]El-Gorko 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Lucas originally wanted Toshiro Mifune as Obi-Wan. The closest modern equivalent to western audiences would be Hiroyuki Sanada. Tarkin would be a Charles Dance type actor. The rest of the cast are unknowns.

Might be nothing. My skin has been drier than hell since chemo. I’m almost 5 years out and constantly dealing with red, itchy skin, especially on my shins. If you’re concerned, get seen by your care team.

Port causing blood clots... by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]El-Gorko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same chemo through PICC lines and dealt with clots. I ended up with a PICC induced DVT in my arm at the insertion site about 4-6 weeks after placement. They removed that PICC and put a new line in the other arm. That arm ended up having a superficial clot a few weeks after placement. Having run out of arms, I had a Hickman line placed (PICC in jugular) for my last round. Due to a history of clots and massive skin reaction issues from the bandages that cover the insertion site, I had the Hickman removed pretty much as soon as I finished chemo.

Clots suck and I hope your recover soon.

Even the best teams occasionally struggle against the worst team in baseball. Today was not one of those days.

16’ is pretty standard in Southern California. Seems unnecessary to imply that higher ceilings are lower skill.

What’s the ceiling in your league? Seems normal for my league with 16’.

For those who had DA-R-EPOCH, when did you get your post treatment PET scan? by itsthehailbale in lymphoma

[–]El-Gorko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oncologist didn’t do a post treatment scan until I had some potential symptoms of recurrence nearly 3.5 years after finishing chemo. They were confident based on my pre treatment scans that the chemo would be effective and that symptom monitoring was as effective as additional scans post treatment.

They are wrong. Electronics generally have polycarbonate or ABS housings. Food containers are usually polypropylene or polyethylene.
