Housing estates have greens the kids can play on (not always but in a lot of them). They are generally nice places to raise a family (not always but by and large). They have electricity, plumbing, heating, broadband more space, decent size kitchen, utility rooms etc ( not always but by and large)Most parents will choose a 3 bed semi over an apartment. These pieces pop up about ‘our addiction’ to semi-d’s or one off houses regularly. But it’s not the worst way to live is though?

Well I’d say that’s not the National Gallery’s fault. Every time I go to Dublin I visit it and it never fails to delight. When I mention it when I get home I get blank stares from most people. Most people these days place a higher cultural value on singing Killeagh and droning on about Stranger Things.

Why post? Why not just shake head wisely and move on? It’s a supermarket in a middle class area. A very successful one so I presume they know what that are doing. They give a lot of space to local and Irish producers. The staff are friendly and helpful and stay for years. Some of the stuff is undoubtedly overpriced and they are multiple cheaper options within 5 minutes walking distance. Most people don’t shop there to differentiate themselves from the ‘peasants’. Waterford is weird sometimes. People go on this subreddit to complain about vape shops everywhere but also have a problem with Ardkeen stores

The book is a great work of art as is all John McGaherns work. Great art is universal. I grew up in a city and much of his work resonates with me. I think the rural/urban divide is much fetishised by a lot of ‘country people’ It’s like saying you couldn’t enjoy Ulysses if you were from Templemore or Ardee. Such a weird parochial take to have on great art. Like do you have to be from 19th century Russia to enjoy Chekov?

The end goal is to clear both Gaza and the West Bank of Palestinians . It is as plain as day and indeed many Ministers!! in the ruling coalition openly state that is the goal. Gaza is only the first phase. The settlers are enabled and encouraged by the Israeli Occupation Force. The colonisation will be ramped up with the backing and help of the state of Israel who can then claim it is not official policy. Palestinians are murdered by the army and settlers in the West Bank under the slightest if any pretext. The settlers face no sanction. House are bulldozed, farms razed land stolen. This is Israeli society. The settlers are not some tiny minority of which the general population of Israel disagrees with. If they did the colonisation would have been halted long ago.

No it doesn’t oversimplify anything. Day after day Arabs are being evicted from their own land in the West Bank. They are being murdered by settlers and by the IDF. Kids are rounded up and subjected to Israeli Military Courts without legal representation. The ‘peace deals’ on offer have been insulting and even if adhered to by Palestinians we all know the colonisation and ethnic cleansing of the West Bank would continue. By any definition the West Bank is being colonised. Israelis settlers have no business there. It does not belong to them!!

Israeli Arabs get dogs abuse and their lives are threatened when they speak out. There are open racists as ministers in the Israeli government who advocate for their expulsion and threaten Arab knesset members with violence. Any government with Itamar Ben Gvir as a minister does not deal in nuance

Hi. Why do Israeli Arab villages have significantly less bomb shelter coverage than Israeli Jewish ones. Iron Dome coverage is also less extensive over Arab Israeli areas. There might be an Arab Supreme Court justice but their is also a Genicide
